So it's exactly three weeks until my E3 schedule kicks off...
...and I'm feeling this sense of foreboding doom. We've got a reduced staff attending this year, since the "invite-only" process means that the two of us who routinely book any kind of meetings are the ones who got the golden tickets from the ESA, while the "floaters," whose job it is to roam the floor and find interesting stuff, didn't have the requisite contacts to get in.
That's the bad news. The reduced attendance level seems to mean that we're having more success booking meetings with various companies. I've got 10 solidified, and another 11 inquiries out with companies we're either likely to meet with, or hoping to meet with. That's the good news. Things are hectic enough trying to do that this year that I'm having to "chaperone" the holdouts, by contacting them frequently when they don't get back to me (one that invited me to meet with them, as opposed to me requesting the meeting, hasn't responded to my RSVP with a date/time, and it's been nearly a month). That's the bad news. I won't have to drive much, if at all. That's the good news. The new venue means that these meetings are taking place in...*counts*...four different venues. And there are another 3-4 that might still come in to play depending on which of the uncertain 11 meetings we get, and where they're located. That's the bad news. If all of this drives me to drink and ruin, I will have at least 2-3 opportunities to accelerate the process on somebody else's dime. That's the good news. Great googily moogily. |
