Ever had one of those nights?
where you're sitting in college, having to write a 10 page paper due at 9 am the next morning. Starting around 6 pm, now having typed around 2.3 pages in 5+ hours, not even completely done with the needed data analysis. The night before you were out at a $6 Hootie Wannabe/Unkle Kracker/Lifehouse concert, not getting home until 2 am at which point your girl wants to stay over at her dorm room with you in her single bed. Having her wake up at 6.30 am this morning so she can meet her parents for church and you going back to your room where you sleep til around noon, only to have her wake you up. And now you've gone through the day in a haze, knowing you need to write a paper due the next day and study for a final for the day after that where you haven't even read the book assigned for the class. Knowing that you'll drop off your paper at 9 am tomorrow, then promptly go back to bed til 2 pm at which point you'll play video games, meaning you have to stay up all night and study. IN the meantime said girlfriend comes over and keeps you in a haze while she cleans your room so the Nazi cleaning people don't asses you a $1000 fine because you left pack of condoms in your desk drawer (well, actually $8, and there were only 2 left last year, I barely used that enough to even out the cost). And while doing all this, you know you could really care less and you just want to go home so you can have 3 days off between school and your summer jobs which combined will take up 14 hours of your day 6 days a week, and you'll only get about 6 hours of sleep a night because you're bedroom is painted in a gay blue Liberace would be proud of. And the only reason your doing all of this is so you can buy a stupid ring telling a girl something she already knows and a new computer that will be obselete in a day and a half.
Thank God I haven't done anything all term, or else I'd be going crazy. God I love college. |

Dola -
If I could only type like I typed that out, I'd be done in 20 minutes. |

Woohoo! 8 hours of working on the paper and I am on page 3.6! I just realized I didn't eat dinner. Since noon I've had a kit kat bar, a glass of water and a glass of Pepsi.
And Shorty, was tonight prom night? I vaguely remember that night, not sleeping, getting high, a little drunk, making out with some girl who I haven't talked to since graduation, Waffle House at 6 am in a tux. |

Woo hoo! 7:50 am! No sleep in sight for me!
Seriously, should I just crash for the afternoon and study through the night, or try and pull 2 consecutive all day/all nighters. |

College was the greatest 4 years of my life. Actually, the details are hazy, but I recognize my name on the diploma so I must have been there.

Yeah, well, I had my first all-night experience with just me, a large cup of coffee, and a long paper last week. I knew about this paper for, oh, about a semester, but I decided not to read my 450 page book (Main Street) until Wednesday before the paper was due on Monday. So, I finish it Saturday morning (because, of course, I needed to do other things in the process, such as games of OOTP4, watching TV, etc.). Well, by then my brain was fried, and I was unable to write until that evening. So, I go get a sno cone with a friend, watch TV, play video games, etc. until about 6:30. I write for about an hour, or think about writing, or something. I eat dinner, and write for maybe another half hour, and my friend starts whining to me online about his girl problems, so I agree to go to get a slush so I can a) help him out with his depressed self, and b) stop writing.
Anyway, I get home and write about another page, and I'm at page 2.5. Sunday comes around, and I just write all day. And keep writing, and keep writing. I'm on AIM, and three other people in my class are up at 2 in the morning. I go get a huge cup of coffee, and can only maintain a half hour writing/half hour break pace, because I'm too tired to think for much longer than that. Anyway, I get done with the body of my paper (18 pages), at 7 AM, hop in the shower, get out, write my works cited and consulted, do a little editing, and print it off at 8:25, and I'm out the door going to school to turn it in second block. Was it hell? Yes. Was it worth it? Probably, because I didn't have to do jack all semester until five days before my paper was due. Anyway, thank God high school (and that damn AEGIS English program) is over. Most people wrote papers about my length, one kid, out of nowhere compared to his previous outputs, wrote a 62 page marathon. What a jackass, trying to show us all up. |

I never gave it a chance to blossom, but now in hindsight I can see for certain those words pieced together as such makes some funny shit even a bitter wanna be comic loser looking for his big break might bite. It's a shark attack and he's got a pad of paper.

Easu, you should not go 2 days without sleeping.
I did that once. After the 2nd no-sleep night, I started doing things...that I really shouldn't. One was giving someone the finger while I was giving a presentation. (Luckily, the teacher did not see. ). Sleep = good....or use some crystal meth. |

Crystal meth is too powerful. All you need is some cheep bathtub crank made by some beat up bikers.
Just say no, drugs only dampen the anger.

Well, its 4:20 now. Lets see, I slept from about 9:45-10:00 this morning, when my woman came over to clean my apartment (gotta love that). I ended up vacuuming the main room and the bedroom. I finally got food around 1:30. So in the span of being awake for 24 consecutive hours, I ate a kit kat and drank 10 oz. of Pepsi before getting a meal. I've been trying to go to sleep since 2:30, but I just can't fall asleep. I'm on my 8th wind, and I'm wide awake. That, and there have been 13 phone calls in the last 2 hours, and I'm the only one here right now. MY ROOMATES AREN'T FUCKING HOME, DEAL WITH IT! So, I guess I'll start studying for my 9 am final in the morning. I'll probably fall asleep while studying, but we shall see.

dola-
I had a crazy night last night. Some key hints are: party, alcohol, pot and friends passing out. I didn't do anything bad though |

I had a hell of a time at work, eating some hallucinogenic fungus and injecting opiates behind the dumpster out back.
Jk. I am sober as a judge.

I would definitely NOT recommend that, I've only done it twice (oddly enough once for the CM3 release and once for the CM4 release) .... you definitely will NOT perform well in your exam in that state, its find for simply checking on test results or prodding a PC into cutting disks etc. .... but attempting coherant thought without sleep for two days is expecting too much imho ... I'd suggest getting 5-6 hours sleep at least and revising 'sensibly' in the time you have available ..... |

Well, its 8.30, my exam is in 30 minutes. I ended up not being able to sleep all afternoon. I never really studied eitherI tried to lay down around 7 pm, and got to sleep at about 8.30, waking up for about 10 minutes every hour. I woke up at midnight, and proceeded to read to book i needed to read word for word in 3.5 hours. Went to sleep at around 4 am and slept til 6. Studied for 1/2 and hour and fell asleep til 7.30. Studied notes for the next hour, and can't really think of anything i need to know. Will probably sleep when i get back, or finally eat again.
So my days since this past friday: went to sleep at midnight, woke up at 6.30 to study for an exam. Did nothing all day, went to concert that night, slept for about 5 hours. Eventually wrote a paper Sunday, didn't eat dinner or sleep. Monday night I slept for about 6 hours, but forgot dinner again, so I ate easy mac around 12.30. So in the past 96 hours or so I have about 17 hours of sleep or so... not too bad. Time to go ace my last final of the year. |

I get excited reading things like this, since I'm going back to school.
Then I remember I'm a graduate student and the above won't apply, since if I stay up past Futurama on Cartoon Network I have a headache the next day. |
