Denial is always the last stage before someone admits there's an addiction.

ah but this isnt CM. I have CM3 and I just cant get into it. But Hattrick is so much less complex IMO, and you cant beat playing other humans...

Airhog just said it perfectly: "other humans". Yes, Hattrick may not be the most complex game, yes it may be a bit simplistic at times, yes to a whole lot of things, but you get to play and exchange with other players, trash talk, ask question about your team. There are people from all over the world playing it...

I love it, everyone else has the right to feel otherwise...

You must have missed my posts about this. It had nothing to do with the game's complexity (which I saw and appreciated). It was 100% because the games themselves were meaningless to me. The stats were meaningless. The skills were meaningless. The stars were meaningless. The teams were meaningless. I don't play sci-fi space games. Soccer or hockey might as well be a sci-fi game as far I'm concerned. I gave it every shot, but I just couldn't get into it. I need for the game to mean something to me. I just never could get past the fact that all the work and mental effort I was doing was for a silly little kickball game.

SkyDog (despite our recent squabbles) is still my hero for slaying the sacred cow. My attitude about CM/Hattrick can be summed up by saying that "soccer is meaningless and any game about soccer therefore is meaningless" (thanks Ben for the inspiration).

I suppose any work in any game could be summed up with a "silly little game".

Got to go with what you're interested in. I can't stand hockey, golf, or NASCAR.

Not sure I'd go so far as calling any person's sport "silly little...", but your point is made.

Well I do respect your decision. Even if you do think it is a silly sport

I will admit that CM is not really my style, it is way too complex and I have a very hard time getting interested in it.

Otoh I do enjoy watching soccer at the highest levels of competition. I admit that a 1-0 match might seem boring, but you dont need lots of points for it to be interesting

Oh, dear god. This could be the end of the world. I recommend everyone take shelter immediately. Me, Skydog and The Artist Formerly Known as Bucc AGREE ON SOMETHING???

I knew it could be done. I had faith that eventually something would unite as together as brothers. From now, anything the two of you say about soccer goes double for me.

Dola -- and before this turns into a NASCAR/Soccer you-just-don't-understand-the-sport-your-poor-pitiful-fool-and-are-in-need-of-saving episode, let me just say that I have no problem with people who like soccer and I encourage them to explore their soccer feelings fully. It's just not my cup of tea and we'll leave it at that.

It's not that most of us like soccer (some do), rather, we like Hattrick.

Wink subject? does anyone even use these?

Hey, let him have his own idea on soccer.
I mean, I can't (and won't ever) understand baseball either.
Maybe it's just based on what you are grown up with, but somehow I think I can understand not liking soccer (that is substituting it with baseball in my situation.)

Besides, I'm not into Hattrick myself either, although it's a hype amongst half of the students here, the other half either isn't interested in soccer or rather joins the soccer riots in The Hague...
