Iverson and Melo on the court for the first time

3 mins in and they are a combined 2-5 from the floor, having taken 50% of all Denver shots.

I love how they're giving their "tough guy" look to the camera whilst wearing powder blue headbands. Nothing says fear me like powder blue.

AI makes powder blue look badass.

Melo just makes it look more pastel...

I've been a fan of A.I. in recent years. I know it's hard for a player in any sport to shake off an image that's provided by a sound bite ("we talkin' about practice"), but that was years ago and I think he's matured a lot since then. He was pretty much the only reason I wanted the Sixers to win. I think I may become a fan of the Nuggets and actually start to follow basketball now.

They've got, what, 40 games to learn to play together? Until that point, they are just positioning for playoff seeding.

As long as they are peaking come playoff time, this trade will have been a very good one for Denver.

I saw some pretty good highlights on sportscenter....

i think it has the potential to be a VERY deadly combo.

You know, it's funny...

I was searching through a chat log with a fellow FOFCer at one point to find something.. and for whatever reason I think i was searching on like "VE" or something..

I realized that I use 'VERY' a lot... not sure what it is, but I do.

Agreed with AI maturing quite a bit over the past few years. I'll still root for the Sixers, but the Nuggets will probably become my secondary team as I still want to see AI do well. Last night was only one night, but he and Melo looked good on the court together.

Yeah, this combo could end up being very good. I'd like to thank the Danny Ferry/Jim Paxson combo for making sure the Cavs had no tradeable assets...I would have loved to have had AI and Bron together.

Iverson is one of those guys whose character is tarnished because of his image, not the other way around.

I'm no basketball expert but he's darn sure one of the best I've ever seen and I'm hoping he does great things in Denver and rides off in the sunset with a championship or two.

Because as a Hawks fan, what else am I supposed to root for?

Greg Oden or Durant, and then a title or two?

That Chris Paul/Joe Johnson backcourt with Greg Oden at center will be nasty in a couple years. Wait, I mean Greg Oden/Marvin Williams frontcourt with Joe Johnson in the backcourt.

(Don't mind me, I'm a Celtics fan who's resigned to finishing bottom 3 of the league and missing out on the Top 2 lottery and Oden/Durant, probably drafting our 4th new rookie PG since Ainge got here and going through the same season of Paul Pierce wasting his prime while surrounded with unfulfilled potential the next 4. At least with guys like Ryan Gomes and Allen Ray they're testing my theory that any decent D1 player can put up 15 points a game and a few boards or assists if you give him 30 minutes a night. Even Rajon Rondo nearly got a triple-double the other night and he played so poorly in college he was actually accused by the NCAA of shaving points if the rumors are to be believed. I'm depressed now, time to go watch Tony Allen tear his ACL throwing down a tomahawk dunk after the play was over.)

Marvin Williams is recovering from an injury, and is not putting up very solid numbers. I still think he can be a very good player, but for this second half of the season he needs to put up more than 1.1 pts per shot, and needs to cut down on the turnovers. And why even attempt threes when you're shooting 24%?

Does it make you feel better that your italicized (now bolded) sentence had me laughing my ass off?

You can't tell me the Chargers don't look threatening in their powder blue uniforms. You just can't.

Carmelo and Iverson looked pretty good together last night, not forcing too much and kicking it to the open shooter (Blake) when not open on the highlights. 5 game win streak for the Nuggets.

I'm not creative enough to make something like that up

We're actually a hilarious team the past couple years. Tony Allen pistol-whipping multiple people, then tearing his ACL during a break in the action; Telfair carrying "his girlfriend's" gun onto a plane while with Portland, then putting out a hit on Cam'Ron's posse after he got jacked this summer; Vin Baker getting released for being drunk during games; Pierce being stabbed close to 40 times, then recovering and refusing to smile since; Mark Blunt looking a lot more interested in the game and Ricky Davis looking a lot more interested in the hot girls after the NBA started testing for weed; Davis telling Pierce coming out of timeout's and huddles how much Boston needed cheerleaders, then being traded before we got them; deciding Marcus Banks wouldn't work despite his great D because he couldn't shoot or make smart decisions, then drafting Rondo and his point shaving rumors; Delonte West's oral herpes birthmark; and of course Tommy Heinsohn announcing. If only we had signed Agent Zero, we'd be right up with the Trail Blazers.

Tony Allen tearing his ACL after an ill advised dunk after the action is over will go down as one of the most hilarious plays in history.

I pair it with Grammatica hurting himself celebrating.

I hadn't even heard about Tony Allen. Actually, I hadn't even heard of Tony Allen until reading this thread. I just saw the video of his injury. Maybe it makes me a mean guy, but I laughed. Hard.
