Only 4-0, with eh ratings. Guess we're not trying that lineup variation again! (Course, we had some nasty form hits too, but still.)

7435 spectators had come to Vengeance Field this cloudy day. Galesburg tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Tirado - Quiroz, Oskarsson, Andres Alvaro - Otero, Hammond, Matson, Poulin, Shaffer - Löven, Street.

Ultra had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Gary - Lanier, Boyce, Francis, Westbrook - Shepard, Fairchild, Muniz, Travis - Goetz, Edmonds.

In the 26:th minute Ultras Kenneth Edmonds received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Galesburg were forced to a substitution as Kenneth Löven couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. Tommy Joe Poulin behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 29:th minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Galesburgs Sam Jones gave, after 35 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Paul Street increased Galesburgs lead to 2 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. In the 39:th minute Galesburgs Ken Shaffer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Gabriel Westbrook went down after a savage challenge, but could keep on playing after some medical attention. 2 - 0 was the half-time score. Galesburg, bringing the final ball possession rate to 92 percent, dominated the battle.

In the 56:th minute Galesburg put themselves up 3 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Elliott Hammond coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. By now Galesburg were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. After an industrious effort down the middle Elliott Hammond could have closed the game off in the 74:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. The referee showed Galesburgs Jesse Matson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In the 79:th minute Galesburg put themselves up 4 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Wiley Otero coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. Galesburg held the ball, with a clear 97 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Wiley Otero. Ken Shaffer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Stan Francis. Tony Lanier was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.

Not much to comment on. Aside from the fact that our new forward has proven to be quite annoying. 4+ week injury to the guy. Grrr. The 90+ possession pretty much speaks for itself. Heh. Ultra Pep gets its best ratings ever though, with a *gasp* passable/passable/inadequate defense. No biggie. We're still in a solid first place, and show no signs of losing it. The best news is what who we have coming up.

Next Week: Naptown Punks (7th place, 7-15 goal diff)
I dunno what happened to them. They weren't bad last year, and they've just flat out sucked this year. Prolly gonna normal them, just to make certain we slaughter them. They've pissed me off due to a couple rude comments last year, so I *may* even MOTS them for the helluvit.

Week 7 & 8 - Lexington United (FOFC's own ColtCrazy)
Sorry brother, but you're gonna get PIC'd and killed 2 weeks in a row. Welcome to hattrick.

Then back to Naptown & Ultra Pep. We've got an eassssy middle schedule, and we end with the better teams, all home games for us.

Anyway, ratings for the game.

Ayup. As long as we could get through the hell of the first 4 games (all the top teams, all but the worst away), the season was basically ours.

Now we work on the series sweep.

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1782 at Vengeance Field today. Galesburg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Tirado - Guinot, Andres Alvaro, Valadez - Cole, Oskarsson, Pinto, Farrell, Croom-Carter - Jones, Street.

Pintendre had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Skene - Saint-Laurent, Best, Willis - Lieder, Brouillard, Macahan, Birgersson, Lyles - Peltola, Kolokotronis.

Sam Jones gave his Galesburg the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. 34 minutes into the game Pintendre´s Vincent Lyles found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring with a long shot, making it 1 - 1. Galesburg's Inge Oskarsson scored 2 - 1 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net. In the 37:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Sam Jones dashed through, knocking home 3 - 1 for Galesburg. 3 - 1 was the half-time score. Galesburg held the ball, with a clear 57 percent possession rate.

The visitors got a chance of pulling one back in the 47:th minute, due to a defensive blunder leaving Panos Kolokotronis completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side´s keeper. Galesburgs Peter Guinot got himself booked after a foul. The Pintendre player was Tore Birgersson who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game. Pintendre fought on and, in the 59:th minute Keimo Peltola was able to reply with 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side finished off by an incredibly clever chip. In the 61st minute Galesburgs Emerson Farrell received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Galesburg´s Rodney Valadez putting the lead up to 4 - 2. Galesburg held the ball, with a clear 55 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Leonardo Andres Alvaro. Paofai Croom-Carter on the other hand, had a terrible day. Pintendre´s best player was Andrew MacAdie. Sammy Willis on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.

Good friendly. No injuries (I don't consider a 1 week injury to a 17 year old a real injury), good game, training for all.

The real news is...get this.

This is with our full scrubs. That's a 50 NSI right there. That's the same as what we got PICing with our *starters*. Wow, don't you just love Paradise on Earth team spirit!

No need for any more commentary really. FOFC cup starts next week, we'll be ready.

AND...

Back in action for the first time inn the FOFC Cup, to the dismay of my groupmates, is Daryl Mosley. Mosley, as you remember, was the top scorer last season for V.38, and suffered an almost career ending injury in the final league match. Welp, he is healed, and ready to once again wreak havok. He will see action in the opening round of the FOFC Cup.

So...I'm thinking. (Be afraid.)

We've got an utter truckload of HT dynasties going now. In the spirit of being different, does anyone have any suggestios for a weird spin they'd like to see?

If it's a spiffy idea, the Galesburg Press will slowly begin tranforming over to a new format. The best idea gets a motivational ham, and a Sock Filled with Quarters.

Normally I'd say "sex and violence," since that seems to solve all marketing-related problems. But we already have plenty of violence around here (just read The_Afoci's dynasty report). So, just go with the sex. Sex good.

Training Update

Er, wait. We need to add more sex...

Candi's House of Spread Legs Presents....Training Update

Welp, the guys were hard at work at Candi's....training. Yeah. That's it.

Man, this sucks. How about this.

The Whack Shack Presents...Training Update

...no. We're not even going there.

Live from Naked Big Titty'd Women Central...Training!

Hmmmm....now this has possibilities. We need the Naked Big Titty'd Women though.

Anyway, the training...

Two playmaking pops today, one expected (finally), one was earlier than I expected. But...

29 year old Jesse Matson pops to passable playmaking, and was immediatly transfer listed. With passable PM, solid passing, solid stamina, and solid set pieces, he should fetch a hefty price, and at his age, it's time to move.

19 year old Tommy Joe Poulin popped earlier than I thought, hitting solid PM today. I do believe we'll be keeping him for a good long while.

C'mon! You have the run-and-shoot. What more do you need? You don't need to fall back on sex and violence. Just dazzle them with the run-and-shoot. If you score lots of goals, they will come.

I kinda forgot to do my game day report, but there's several updates that do need to happen now. Galesburg is movin' and a shakin'.

First...the match.

10663 spectators had come to Shiznit Park this cloudy day. Naptown tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Estes - Villegas, Bateman, Honeycutt - Williams, Larsson, Odonnell, Hyatt, Joyner - Douglas, Dodson.

Galesburg had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Tirado - Andres Alvaro, Hammond, Quiroz - Shaffer, Oskarsson, Matson, Poulin, Otero - Jones, Street.

After 2 minutes Galesburgs Paul Street made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. One of many good passes from Wiley Otero at the wing was recieved and skillfully taken care of by Paul Street, scoring for Galesburg to 0 - 2. Rickie Quiroz received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 18:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. The referee showed Galesburgs Jesse Matson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Leonardo Andres Alvaro increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. The structure of the game started to change as Galesburg decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Naptown had obvious problems in finding their positions. The visitors Paul Street took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 41st minute. 0 - 4 for Galesburg. At that, Paul Street was noted down for a hat trick. Galesburg´s Sam Jones received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 42nd minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 5. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. In the to 43rd minute a very unfortunate collision in the home teams penalty area led to Naptown´s John Odonnell being carried off the pitch and replaced by Titus Grubb. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 5. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Galesburg, with an impressive 72 percent possession of the ball.

The Naptown players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. A well placed corner kick from Harvey Dodson was followed by Walter Honeycutt´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant 1-5 for Naptown. In the 72nd minute Galesburg put themselves up 1 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. Scorer was Ken Shaffer. The game had been on for 75 minutes when Paul Street broke through to the right, upping the score to the home crowd´s dismay. Galesburg´s were up 1 - 7. After the ball got lifted in from the left Rickie Quiroz was on his own in the home side´s penalty area 81 minutes into the game, and should have scored, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Galesburg, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.

Naptown´s best player was Walter Honeycutt. Al Williams was a disappointment, however. Galesburg´s best player was Jesse Matson. Ken Shaffer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 7.

Yep, it was a massacre. We shoulda PIC'd it, but oh well. The passable midfield is kinda nice, too.

Now, onto the moving and shaking.

First, as 29 year old Jesse Matson popped to passable playmaking, his secondary skills are just too good to not xfer list him and get a chunk of change for him. So, we did. And the bids rolled in. He's presently sitting at 105k.

Obviously, we needed a replacement midfielder. The whole reason I decided to xfer Matson was the fact that his PM wasn't really up to snuff. A lowwww passable just won't cut it in the future, so we're in the process of locking up a new, younger, solid PMing middie. I just don't feel any of our trainees are ready for primetime yet.

Secondly...he's baaaaack. Daryl Mosley, last year's scoring title winner, is finally playable! He's in wretched form, but he'll be playing in friendlies now till he bumps back up. Once he and Loven get on the field at the same time...watch out. That tandem should be a serious upgrade to our offensive scheme.

Further future planning. Elliot Hammond, our current offensive central defender, will be popping to excellent soon, at which point his services will no longer be required in Galesburg. He will be funding an arena upgrade, and also flagging a search for a new central defender. Things should get interesting very soon.

Oh yeah. Surprise surprise. We're still in 1st place, and above the auto-promotion line. Go Galesburg!

Welcome aboard our newest member of the Avengers.

Damien Petit
83 000 US$, 23 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: solid Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

Picked him up for a very reasonable 79,000, giving us a healthy profit from our sale of Jesse Matson, who netted us 143,000.

I like Damien a lot. First, he's young enough for me to pop him to excellent PM possibly by the end of this season, depending on how far along he is. His stamina is decent enough, especially since this week is our stamina break for the season. Assuming he pops, passable stamina is fair enough for the midfield, and he'll be at solid/excellent after this offseason.

The inadequate defense is quite nice too. We'll see how he does in our friendly playing defensive.

We're back from a brutal weekend of paintball. Quick update, as I'm still recovering.

10920 spectators arrived at Vengeance Field, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Galesburg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Tirado - Quiroz, Petit, Andres Alvaro - Otero, Oskarsson, Hammond, Poulin, Shaffer - Jones, Street.

Lexington started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Li-Shan - Herranz, Jackson, Rudolph, Lemon - Iacona, Lynn, Britt, Crawley - Anderson, Barney.

Damien Petit received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 17:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. After a fine move down the middle Sam Jones nearly gave the home side one up in the 21st minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Elliott Hammond of Galesburg received a yellow card in the 24:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Galesburg´s Rickie Quiroz was able to shove the ball in. 1-0. A great save by goaltender Rong Li-Shan in the 31st minute kept the visitors in the game as Sam Jones struck from the left with a real cannonball. 36 minutes into the game Leonardo Andres Alvaro had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Peter Guinot. 1 - 0 was the half-time score. Galesburg held the ball, with a clear 77 percent possession rate.

Galesburg put themselves up 2 - 0 when Damien Petit broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. In the 58:th minute Galesburg put themselves up 3 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Paul Street coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. The structure of the game started to change as Galesburg decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 70 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Galesburg. However, Rong Li-Shan made a spectacular save. In the 76:th minute Galesburg put themselves up 4 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Sam Jones coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. 78 minutes into the game Arden Tirado had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Ian Hogan. Galesburg, bringing the final ball possession rate to 82 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Elliott Hammond. Ian Hogan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Lexington player was without a doubt Billy Anderson. Hector Rudolph on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.

We won. Not exactly a surprise. As for our ratings....well, this is what happens when you PIC, are in form hell, and have 2 *more* starters injured.

Injuries first. Alvaro is slated out for 2 weeks. Okay, I can live with that, as I have a competant reserve for him. Tirado is already at bruised. We dodged a couple bullets here, let me tell you.

The good news. Wow. Hammond after that week of stamina training bumped from a 2 star middie to a 3 star middie. I've always been planning on selling him once he pops to excellent (soon), but ya know...I might just keep him around. Our only major strength on this team is our midfield, and he just proved his worth.

Please, dear god, get me out of form hell. Our form just sucks for most of our starters. Luckily, this is happenening during our easy streak, in which we have 4 more matches in a row we can easily PIC.

And...heh. Anyone with any doubts of us sweeping the series and autopromoting should put them away now. Barkhamstead, the team relegated from IV was replaced with a newbie, and now LDA, a fairly decent club, and my only serious threat, just got replaced. My series has gone from easy with a few spoilers to dear god even the Crawfish could win this divison.

Dum de dum. FOFC Cup really starts for us this week, and considering the god awful play of our starters and the fact that we're now at PoE team spirit, the B team might actually pull off better ratings than my A players.

Cha-ching. Not surprisingly for Galesburg, we dropped another signifigant chunk of change
on a player, but again, I think it's for the better.

First, our latest addition to the squad...

Vladimiro Perales (11881423)
18 years, passable form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is balanced and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.
Speciality: Quick
Nationality: USA
Assessed value: 62 000 US$
Wage: 800 US$/week
Owner: Galesburg Avengers
Warnings: 0

Stamina: poor Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: passable
Winger: wretched Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched

Good purchase for $133,000. Whatever that passing change is, we now have a passable passing
central defender, so maybe we'll see something happen out of that. As his only two decent
skills are defending and passing, it's looking to me like he's up there on the path to excellent.
(Defender trainers, can I get a guess here?)

Why spend a decent chunk of change now? Well, simple. I've decided not to sell Elliot Hammond
this season, as he his recent performance proves he's a monster. I only have 1 other player
at the moment who puts up 3 stars, and thats the God Winger, Wiley Otero. As I'm happy with
my strikers (once they heal and get form up, anyway), and there were no good wingers on the
market, I elected to bulk up my defense. Any transactions I make from here on out are in
order for me to compete in IV. We've already got a midfield that can compete, now we work
on the 'other' positions.

How are we paying for Vladimiro? (What a name, by the way.) Welp, Damien Petit didn't last
too long on the Avengers. He's back on the transfer list as of last night. I paid 79,000
for him, and listed him for 85,000. He already has a bid. Ironically enough, it's from
the club I bought him off of in the first place. Who knows.

I don't train defense, but I will list a player on my team that might help give you a reference. (threadjack-def trainers any guesses on Downs)

Joseph Downs
164 000 US$, 26 years, inadequate form
Has poor experience and poor leadership abilities

Stamina: solid Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: weak Passing: passable
Winger: wretched Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: disastrous

The solid stamina definately pushes his value up, but the passing skill makes it much more difficult to judge a players true skill level(multiplicative not additive to value?).

Omar Narin

Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: inadequate

this guy is very close to solid, he gets 2 1/2 stars in inadequate form.

My personal guess is he's somewhere in the middle point between solid/excellent. That damn passing rating is just the wildcard there. Stamina reallllllly skyrockets people's value though.

625 spectators arrived at Vengeance Field, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Galesburg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Tirado - Guinot, Perales, Quiroz - Cole, Pinto, Farrell, Petit, Croom-Carter - Jones, Mosley.

Golden started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Schultz - Silverman, Ridley, Larragoiti, Hatton - Chu, Jansson, Kärrlind, Fernández-Cuesta - Ehngren, Schindler.

In the 3rd minute the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Daryl Mosley flipped the ball after a cross pass from the right. In the games 8:th minute Golden´s Nicky Ridley fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Nicky Ridley for taking a dive. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Galesburg´s Daryl Mosley got himself booked. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Golden´s José Luis Larragoiti got himself booked. Paofai Croom-Carter was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the enemy box - Sam Jones managed to kick one of them into 2 - 0 in the 38:th minute. The home sides Paofai Croom-Carter twisted a free kick home in the 39:th minute, putting Galesburg ahead 3 - 0. By now Galesburg were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Halftime score was 3 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Galesburg, with an impressive 73 percent possession of the ball.

With 75 minutes played Vladimiro Perales could have brought this one home for Galesburg, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. Golden fought on and, in the 77:th minute Franz Schindler was able to reply with 3 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side finished off by an incredibly clever chip. The visitors got a chance of pulling one back in the 82nd minute, due to a defensive blunder leaving Stefan Silverman completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side´s keeper. After an industrious effort down the middle Daryl Mosley could have closed the game off in the 84:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. In the 86:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Rickie Quiroz dashed through, knocking home 4 - 1 for Galesburg. The referee showed Galesburgs Vladimiro Perales the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Galesburg, with an impressive 77 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Vladimiro Perales. However, Emerson Farrell made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Golden player was without a doubt Per Jansson. Nicky Ridley on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 1.

Galesburg Avengers
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: inadequate
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: passable
Left Side Defence: inadequate
Right Side Attack: passable
Central Attack: inadequate
Left Side Attack: weak

No real need for commenting really, although the inadequate midfield with our B team is pretty impressive. I also like the play of our new defender, Vladimiro Perales. 2.5* in passable form I can certainly live with.

Whoo! Galesburg says hello to its first excellent player. Elliot Hammond has popped to excellent playmaking. If only one person had to pop this week, which is what happened, I'm quite pleased its him.

Form for this week's league starters:

Arden Tirado (passable) (up 1)
Rickie Quiroz (passable)
Peter Guinot (inadequate)
Vladimiro Peralse (passable)
Wiley Otero (weak)
Ken Shaffer (passable) (up 2)
Inge Oskarsson (inadequate)
Elliot Hammond (passable) (down 1)
Tommy Joe Poulin (inadequate)
Sam Jones (passable)
Paul Street (passable)

We're still in form hell, if you ask me, but it seems to be improving. I'm hoping it takes a turn for the better during the next few weeks of PIC's.

Woohoo! Congratulations on Hammond!

Nice new defender in Perales. Major cajones going with an offensive defender in a 3-5-2. I've WANTED to for awhile, just haven't found the, ahem, fortitude to do so.
