Buying a Motorcycle

Hey guys.....im pretty new to the board, i read it just never post. Anyway, im about to purchase a bike, first time rider, and i found a 1997 Kawasaki X500. I read up on it and it seems like a fine bike to start on. Does anyone know where i can find pictures for it and such? I can only find pics for 1990-1995. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

My advice - take a few rider education courses. Depending on where you live, the state may have sponsored programs. Regardless, take the basic course to get licensed, and before you do any riding on your own, take an advanced course after that. Defensive driving on a motorcycle is the best way to stay alive.

Aside from that, I have never ridden a Kawasaki. My first motorcycle was a 92 Honda Shadow VLX 600 - an outstanding first bike. I've currently got a 94 Magna VF750C - a bit beefier than the Shadow, and also an excellent ride - but I'd recommend a smaller engine for your first 10,000 miles on the road. It's also best to ride in a group of experienced riders for your first few trips - you'll stay safer and more visible, and have something of a cushion until the basics of riding become more instinctive to you.

Thanks a lot. Friday im going to the DMV (NY) to take the permit test and get all the info on the classes and such. This guy is sending me pics of the bike, but im too impatient to wait. But like i said, on google i cant find a single pic of the exact bike.
