What types of questions should I ask?

I'm going to be in Moscow and St. Petersburg for approximately the next two weeks for a study abroad tour and my choice of paper topic is Russian baseball.

I've been in contact with this guy over there and am working on arranging an interview with him as well as attending a four team tournament in Moscow (Belarus, Russia, Ukraine national teams, along with a club team).

What types of questions do you think I should ask him? I'm particularly interested in finding more about his accusations of embezzlement (in not so many words) by people who were supposed to promote baseball in Russia, but obviously I don't want to start off with that. I do have some ideas of my own, but it's always good to get more input.

Is your topic anything specific, or is it just a summary of Russian baseball?

Well, if I can find out more information about what the guy's suggested, I was going to shape my paper around the argument of Russian baseball's history being an admirable one, with levels of individual and team success that are all the more impressive given the adversity it's faced and so on as from what I can find, the Russian baseball teams have done fairly well on the international scene and of course there's Victor Starffin, the Russian who won 300 games in Japan.
