Talking We Got Our Adoption Referral!!!

My wife and I finally got our referral. Sometime in the next two months we'll be traveling to Chongqing to pick her up at the Fuling Social Welfare Institute. She appears healthy and is lucky enough to be at an orphanage where she is held every day. Her birthday was approximated at 3/4/05.

There is a picture of Langley Elizabeth(Fu Bao Lai is her Chinese name) at my wife's blog.

Langley Elizabeth

I'm alternately excited and terrified, but now that we have a picture its all so much more real. There's a real little girl that doesn't yet know us, but will become a part of our family. Its all a bit overwhelming for me at times.

Anyway.. congratulations

The name is actually a bit of good fortune. Langley is a family name on my wife's side, but the Chinese characters of Lang and Lei mean "bright and beautiful".

Congratulations! I was adopted from Seoul, Korea, and came to the United States when I was a year old. I never had to worry if my parents loved me or not.

you know, I'm sure adopted child have a much better chance of stating this than non-adopted, if only because of all the trouble (if you can call it that) that their adoptive parents went through to "unleash" their love on them.

Unrelated to adoption or not, I simply feel very sad anything I read a story of a beaten/abused kiddo...

I knew another couple who adopted 2 Chinese baby girls, apart 2 years apart.

I'm so happy to know that these girls are going to loving homes!

Congratulations, JPhillips. I'm sure this is an incredibly exciting day for you, your wife, and your extended family. Best of luck with the trip - hope that the days just fly by for both of you between now and then.
