Hattrick: Pennsylvania Witches recognize their mission

Welcome to the newest Dynasty in Hattrick!!!
The PA Witches are now prepaired for weekly battle

~~~~~~~~~~~ Witches Division ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~ Rated 73th in D5 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Based on what I've seen thus far, there will be a three way battle for the top spot in our division with the Maniacal Misfits being the team to beat. The Green Mages are a Div 4 send down but that doesn't mean they're untouchable. The way I see it personally, the Misfits have a solid team just as well but have much stronger scoring then the Mages. The Witches are a balanced team with a strong defense and quality scoring. Weakness which will be addressed immediatly, KEEPER! If you can somehow get past our defensive line, you will have a golden opprotunity to score if the post doesn't get in your way.

The other teams in our division are strong in some areas but weak in others with very little activity to help themselves along. The team to watch however is the ChristinaFC3 team. ChristinaFC3 has a strong defense but very little attack.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ WITCHES COACH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
James Kraft (10803838)
34 years, wretched form, healthy
A passable coach who goes all out
A pleasant guy who is temperamental and honest.
Has excellent experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Nationality: USA
Assessed value: 0 US$
Wage: 500 US$/week
Owner: Witches
Warnings: 0
Not as great a coach as I'd like, but after spending a total of about $300,000.00 to find him, he's outstanding in my eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~ The Pentacle (arena) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Currently The Pentacle is under re-construction to take it from a 7220 seat facility to a 11,000 seat arena complex. Ground has been purchased surrounding our arena facility to add an additional 200,000 seats in time, but we have to build slowly as our fan base grows.

~~~~~~~~~~~ Training ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I"m not going to post anything here at this time because we're running a base 4-4-2 set and until now I have yet to find the ONE area I'm looking to train regularly. Keeper is defidently a problem as is Stamina.
Arena costs simply just eat you alive ya know!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE CLUB ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Youth Squad: inadequate
Investment in the Youth squad: 20 000 US$ / week

Goaltending Coaches: 2
Assistant Coaches: 6
Sport Psychologists: 4
Spokepersons: 1
Economists: 1
Physiotherapists: 3

I don't know if they have any impact on HT but Sports Psychology is a huge factor in real life. With the number of old folk I have on my team I feel doctors & physiotherapists are important.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE WITCHES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Erasmo Eiriz
125 000 US$, 27 years, passable form
Has weak experience and solid leadership abilities
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: passable Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: inadequate
Eiriz is one of those players I acquired when I got the team and automatically was appointed our team Captain. What I like about him the most is that he can play a top game in Winger, Mid-fielder, and any back line position.
Martin Correa
103 000 US$, 26 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: passable Passing: wretched
Winger: weak Defending: passable
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: passable
Correa is another player I got with the team and has the ability to play in any defensive line position but his experience hurts us from time to time.
Tore Stensson
94 000 US$, 29 years, passable form
Has poor experience and poor leadership abilities [Unpredictable]
Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: disastrous
Stensson is one of the guys I picked up a Swedish team. He rode the pines in a D4 team being used primarily as a back-up. With the Witches, he's proven to become a solid inner-midfielder gaining 3 stars a game.
Gary Ralston
92 000 US$, 21 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: weak Keeper: inadequate
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: disastrous
Ralston was brought up from the Youth Squad early when I origionally went through my squad and noticed the devistation I had to deal with at Keeper. Some might say an inadaquate keeper can't make it in D5 but he's 5-2 thus far and doing well.
Martin Olsson
55 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: wretched Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: wretched
When selling off quite a few players to recover from early blunderous mistakes, I found myself seeking a bargain dollar forward. Olsson was my man at $26k. Coming over from Sweden Olsson showed me in his one league game with the Witches thus far he's going to work out fine
Erwin Mcintyre
49 000 US$, 27 years, weak form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: wretched
Winger: weak Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: weak
Mcintyre is yet another player I got with the team and is a fixture in Central Defense.
Peter Crow
47 000 US$, 32 years, passable form
Has weak experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: solid
Winger: wretched Defending: disastrous
Scoring: solid Set Pieces: disastrous
Don't let Peter Crow's age or experience fool you because if you do, it just might end up costing you a few goals. Peter has been waiting for a very long time to play for a contender and he's shining brighter then ever
Carroll Thorn
47 000 US$, 25 years, poor form
Has poor experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: poor Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: passable
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weak
Thorn has been searching to get into the lineup from day one and with the departure of Cohen in early April, he's found himself a part of the Wing Back position. Look out now!
Thad Flowers
46 000 US$, 30 years, inadequate form
Has weak experience and passable leadership abilities [Technical]
Stamina: solid Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: poor Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: solid
Flowers is, and has been a fixture on the Defensive line and that isn't going to change any time soon
Ben Berlian Harianto
39 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor
When acquired in early April, Harianto was thought to be our answer for the vacant right winger position but when he arrived on the scenes, he wasn't accepted by the other players very well. Where the problems stem from and his future are up to the sports psychologists and psychotheropists to figure out but unless there is a major downfall of the team's chemestry, he's our winger
Dave Baird
31 000 US$, 29 years, inadequate form
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Head]
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: solid
You can't run a dynasty without suffering form injuries from time to time. Baird has spent the greater part of three weeks on the DL suffering from a foot injury in a friendly against the Donkey Rapers but when he comes back, he'll find himself back at his right wingback position
Charles Grissom
31 000 US$, 20 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: wretched Keeper: weak
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: disastrous
Grissom is a kid I picked up from our Youth Squad who with the exception of his passable form may have been canned when brought up. I'll be training Keeper quite a bit over this season so we'll see where he goes. Right now he's backing up Ralston
Clifford Metz
26 000 US$, 26 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities [Unpredictable]
Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: solid
On any other team Metz would be a #2 or even a #1 forward but on the Witches, he doesn't seem to gel with the other players on the field. He's a solid backup for now but could be a casualty of financial matters in the future.
José María Bausa Lopez
25 000 US$, 27 years, passable form
Has poor experience and wretched leadership abilities
Stamina: passable Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: weak
Bausa Lopez up until the last league match has been a fixture at left winger but with the acquisition of Hariato and the departure of Cohen he was given a try at left inner mid-fielder which didn't work out to well. Come the next Cup game, Bausa Lopez could find himself back at left Winger where he feels more comfortable.
Steven Gandy
11 000 US$, 28 years, poor form
Has poor experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: excellent Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: solid
Gandy has been a guy I've been looking at for a while but with the talent I had on the team it was hard to get him into the lineup anywhere. When Baird went down to a foot injury, Gandy was given the chance to start at inner-midfielder but in the early part of the game he too suffered a devistating injury which has him on the shelf for a few weeks. We'll have to see where he's at when he gets back
Timothy Hubbard
10 000 US$, 25 years, passable form
Has poor experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: wretched Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate Defending: disastrous
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched
Hubbard has been filling in on the starting lineup for Baird since Gandy went down but who knows his future when the other two regain their health
Walter Dube
8 000 US$, 24 years, passable form
Has poor experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: wretched
Winger: weak Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: poor
Al Guthrie
8 000 US$, 26 years, poor form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: weak
Both Dube & Guthrie have been with the team since I've had it, both see action in friendly games but neither have seen compitition in games that count. With their ages a factor, they may be casualties of the transfer list by season's end, maybe only trying to recuperate the $1k it takes to put them on the market.
Manuel "The Leprechaun" Gómez
0 US$, 19 years, poor form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Head]
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: wretched
Winger: wretched Defending: disastrous
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor
At first glance Gomez wouldn't last on many D6 teams yet he remains a starter at times on a team in a rough D5 division. Dubbed "The Leprechaun" by a friend of mine who owns a D5 team in another division for his ability to average 2 goals a game with very little ability or skill, Gomez is a crowd favorite and won't be going anywhere anytime soon
Horace Olson
0 US$, 20 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Head]
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: disastrous
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: disastrous
Olson is another kid I brought up from the Youth Squad as was Gomez. I see Olson being a future Winger star, but for now he's in training.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SEASON'S THOUGHTS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm content with the lineup I'm putting on the field each match, my players for the most part seem to be gelling quite well and their productivity is showing up on the scoreboard, in the arena, and in the supporter growth. This is my first season and I feel I'm in contension for the #1 spot of my division but would settle for a top 3 position. My goal is to build for the future while trying to win as many games in the now. Youth is a key, but I'm willing to use the veterans I have to bring the kids along.

As a Phillies Phan (MLB) the 70's were a strong time for our club. This came from developing the minor league organization and working with the kids. Where the Phillies went wrong however was by trading off the kids for the NOW in the 80's. Perfect examples of how the kids being developed for the future is in the current Phillies lineup as well as in Oakland, Anaheim, Minnesota, and St Louis. The Witches will follow this formula and in due time will compete for the World Cup.

Trying a new lineup to fit my new superstars in but watching it closely

~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE MATCH ~~~~~~~~~~~~
After 7 minutes Witchess Peter Crow made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Erwin Mcintyre behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 12th minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Donkey´s Roberto Chiarello made an attempt at equalising in the 24:th minute, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post, the defense clearing the rebound. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. Witches, bringing the final ball possession rate to 60 percent, dominated the battle.
Donkey had a magnificent opportunity in the 60:th minute as Roberto Chiarello hit the ball hard at the edge of the penatly box. However, the shot went wide. In the games 64:th minute Donkey´s Shayne Swann head butted an opponent nastily and so the referee sent him off immediately. Erwin Mcintyre came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over John Youngblood, hitting the bar. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Witches, with an impressive 76 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Donkey player was without a doubt Joshua Mallory. Lars Lübek on the other hand, had a terrible day. Witches´s best player was Peter Crow. José María Bausa Lopez on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.
Goal: Crow 1
Outlook:
Seems as if our team chemestry is down a bit. This week before the cup match on Wednesday night I'm going to be going over the past few lineups and finding what used to work so well for us and work from there to develop this team into a machine.
This week: Cup match against a human D4 team... GOOD LUCK US!!!
After a long team meeting between Captain Eiriz, Coach Kraft & GM Veigns, the Witches feel confident that they have a game plan for the next two matches.
Match I, a cup match against the Cleveland Force, a strong D4 team with talent at every position. At this point, with having a rather new team, it was GM Veigns' decision to PIC in the cup match and utilize the match to gain experience in the 5-3-2 set. With an idadaquate keeper, Kraft says until he can get training up on his keepers, Ralston's going to need help against stronger teams. Eiriz chimed in by reminding GM Veigns that when he along with Mcintyre play in the Central Defense positions, the team stands a better chance of winning. The result of playing the 5-3-2 against Cleveland is hoped to better prepair the team vs the Green Mages in league competition in the very next league match which the team will more then likely play MOTS.
WingBack Dave Baird has returned for this game, although still slightly bothered by his foot injury, he's declaired himself available and ready to play. Baird will be a game time decision.
Tried him out by didn't work out: Winger Ben Hariato was given the chance to find himself a position on the Witches but after a game in that position, he truly has been hurting the team's chemestry and placed on the transfer wire ($40k). Veigns says he's a VERY strong Winger but just doesn't fit in with these guys, perhaps he's just to good a winger to make it on this club.
Also placed on the xfer wire this week were Forward Clifford Metz and WingBack Martin Correa. Metz (26) is to good a forward to be sitting on the bench waiting for players scheduled to play ahead of him to get injured and could do a new team a great justice or even be a 2nd or 3rd forward on a D4 club. Correa (26) is a casualty of his salery. Costing the team $1310 a week to be a 2nd string player at CentralDefense, WingBack, or InnerMidfield is not something Veigns wants to do with his cash, especially digging out of the hole from arena re-construction. With passable "Set Pieces", along with being passable in "Scoring", "Defense", & "Playmaking" Correa would do any team justice to be on their roster.
Here comes the rookies! The youth squad this week has given the Witches yet another inadaquate keeper with talent. Pacífico Alzamendi (20) is expected to be the keeper of the future due to is inadaquate keeper and passable form. One can only wait and see on a guy like this, but with Kraft's decision to train Keeper and Stamina over the next several weeks, the outlook looks good for this kid.
Man.... you started off the year with a tough schedule. 3 of the top 4 teams in the divison(you are the other one of course) in a row. That means you gotta end the year like that aswell. Thats gonna be tough. but i feel your pain, i got a tough streak coming up....
I gotta play The Bulldogs, The Green mages, The Donkey Rapers.... then The Donkey Rapers, The greenmages , and the Bulldogs.
6 tough games in a row!!. Then i get 3 easy games in a row and then end the season against you
The Pennsylvania Witches v The Cleveland Force (Cup Round 3)
Pregame thoughts: I knew I was in trouble because the Force came into the match as a #2 seed in Division 4. Coach Kraft & GM Veigns felt it best to use this match to get prepaired for the next league match against a former D4 team. To start, we were using a 5-3-2 set for the first time which coming into the match was poor. Second, we were going back to basics with our lineup making sure Eiriz & Mcintyre were the core of our central defense and putting Bausa Lopez back at left wing with Hubberd playing the other winger position. This combination was not a good thing for both Hubbard & Mcintyre both got booked early in the first half.
~~~~~ THE MATCH ~~~~~

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 7220 to The Pentacle. Witches had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Ralston - Thorn, Flowers, Eiriz, Mcintyre, Correa - Bausa Lopez, Stensson, Hubbard - Crow, Olsson.

Theforce tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. Lineup: Göransson - Björkborn, Douglass, Lau - Currier, Duvskog, Koompakan, Törnstrand - Cullen, Yngvesson, Robakiewicz.

Darryl Cullen had a good try in the 5:th minute, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Witches´s Timothy Hubbard got himself booked. Theforce´s Darryl Cullen gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead in the 22nd minute with a superb strike from the right. After 24 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Darryl Cullen who increased Theforce´s lead to 0 - 2. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Witches´s Erwin Mcintyre got himself booked. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 35:th minute Theforce goal, making it 0 - 3. Darryl Cullen was noted down as the scorer. At that, Darryl Cullen was noted down for a hat trick. Witches had obvious problems in finding their positions. Theforce´s Piotr Robakiewicz received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 42nd minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 4. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. 0 - 4 was the half-time score. Theforce, bringing the final ball possession rate to 76 percent, dominated the battle.

The Witches players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 63rd minute Theforce goal, making it 0 - 5. Anders Törnstrand was noted down as the scorer. The structure of the game started to change as Theforce decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Witches seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Jesper Yngvesson increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 6. Piotr Robakiewicz increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 7. Witchess Martin Olsson went wide in the 85:th minute, recieving a brilliant pass slicing through the visiting teams central defense line, putting the 1 - 7 goal away. Witches appeared unsure on how to play. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Theforce´s Per Duvskog was able to shove the ball in. 1-8. The visitors Harry Lau took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 89:th minute. 1 - 9 for Theforce. Theforce, bringing the final ball possession rate to 78 percent, dominated the battle.

Most important Witches player was Peter Crow. Carroll Thorn on the other hand, had a terrible day. Theforce´s best player was Darryl Cullen. Harry Lau on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 9.

Prepairation for Green Mages seems to be somewhat successful having improved a 5-3-2 set to passable from poor. With Mcintyre & Hubbard being booked early in the first half, only time will tell if they've gained experience enough to be at full strength by Sunday night. Ralston was shelled for 9 goals and had a few others hitting off the post, it's been said he's seeing the sports psychologist complaining that all he's seeing is balls being kicked at him, chances are that new keeper fresh off the youth squad, Pacífico Alzamendi will get the start on Sunday night. Team spirit improved to delirious while team confidence declined to poor. Coach Kraft said in a post game press conferance "Our Witches learned that we're a ways away from being a competitive division 4 team but the experience gained from this match will take us through the rest of this season." Star player Peter Crow had this to say, "There was much to learn from a game like this, most of which includes having our asses handed to us royaly."

thank you Sterlingice, but ya know it couldn't have come at a better time concidering I"m prepairing for the Green Mages in my next league match and they had 26.5 stars in yesterday's cup match. I don't think I'll win this match either but experience is key when you're a team only a month old.

well johnny.... our divison is getting tougher and tougher. ESAD and CristinaFC3 just bought a few players.

CristinaFC3 bought a forward for 300,000
kind of a dumb move to spend all there money on 1 guy but there offense is pretty good now. there D is still pretty weak so they shouldnt be much of a problem.

ESAD just bought a couple players also. We're both still better then him but at least he's showing effort

The Bulldogs scare me the most. he got blessed with a good starting team. If he ever decides to buy a few players and spend some of the money he's got he could really cause us some problems.

This divison is heating up more and more every week. As of right now we're the 26th toughest divison in V out of 256. Dont be surprised if by the end of the year its tougher then that

Oh I agree Havok and I'm selling 3 players, one being bid on already with tomorrow to go yet. When they get sold I'm investing in a decent right winger. My keepers are all inadaquate overall but I've decided to train keeper & stamina through-out this season so those 3 kids will get good. I've decided to play my starters against the Mages but go more on the attack with a 3-4-3 set hoping to create some Havok (pardon the pun). I'm PIC because I'm not good enough to beat these guys YET, but come the end of the season, I'll be a force to contend against these guys.

Oh and the changes continue

Saturday morning April 19, 2003 marked a day that will never be forgotten in Witches history. This day is the day that wrapped up some incredable changes for the Witches. WingBack-Central Defender Martin Correa was baught from the team at $117+k which enabled GM Johnny Veigns to go shopping. Correa was a high priced talent on the Witches but really wasn't able to find his starting position. GM Veigns said, "I don't mind spending money, that's obvious, but when I'm paying as much as I was for Correa to sit on the bench, as much as I hate to see him go, financially speaking he had to be released."

For the price of Correa, Veigns went shopping, picking up a SOLID InnerMidfielder, and a couple of impressive Wingers. Friday morning Veigns picked up Jérémie Vadnais from Spain. Veigns said, "Vadnais was origionally thought to be one of our solutions to our Winger problem being a VERY SOLID winger but once we seen his numbers and saw our other two guys we were bidding on we immediatly put Vadnais to Inner Midfield where he's still solid." The other two players Veigns was talking about were picked up Saturday morning. Egon Grady from Germany and Thiery Marchal from Belgium joined the team and are expected to fill the two Winger positions quite well. Coach Kraft says of the improvements, "On paper it looks like we have a solid midfield, we'll get a test come Sunday night against a very powerful Green Mages team." Team Captain Erasmo Eiriz was heard saying, "I'm excited about the changes and what should be improvements to our club, Mcintyre and I are solid in Central Defense, Baird & Flowers should do well at Wingback, and Olsson & Crow are never a question at Forward, with these improvements our midfield looks as formatable as the rest of the team." Tore Stensson, the team's other Inner-Midfielder, was also very excited about the changes but Jose Bausa Lopez and Timothy Hubbard were understandably upset at being replaced. GM Veigns had this to say about Hubbard & Lopez, "The guys are valuable to the team and will not be forgotten or replaced from the roster but since we're not looking to train wingers this year, we had to get people in here who could help us win and win now."

The improvements go into place this Sunday night in a home match against the Green Mages. I guess it's safe to say that only time will tell if these improvements will actually help the club.
