EA appeasing to sim fans .. in Fight Night Round 4?

EA is promising that Button Mashing is outlawed in FN4 and instead the left/right sticks will be the only way to punch. Talk about interesting.

From GameSpy's article:

Button mashing has been banished. Round 4 is going to force you to use the right stick to punch. After years of enduring randomly button-mashing boxers, I'm relieved to hear that they'll have to work a little harder to land some blows. Perhaps to compensate, you can now chain together multiple attacks with the right stick. For example, a one-two combo can be inputted before the animation of the first punch is complete. It sounds cool, but I'm a little skeptical until I've played it. EA promises that you'll be able to cancel commands with a button tap, lest you waste stamina. I need to try it and see how the dynamics balance out.

The parry system is the thing that made FN3 and the previous versions fighting games and not boxing games. So frickin happy that it's taken out. I'll get used to the controls, so I'm fine with the button controls being taken away.

Yup, I am all for it, but I am sure there will be an uproar from some fans.

Until they make it real fighting where I really feel the punches, it's not realistic enough for me. I want to cut me Mick and feel it bleed!!!!!!

Good news, i loved FNR3 playing solo and using only the sticks... until i tried it online and was humiliated by button mashers that could hit way faster than me.

FNR3 is a game i always come back both in PS3 and PSP when i want a few minutes of quick action. Really looking forward to FNR4, i'll also try the UFC game when gets out.
