This Year's Baseball Games (Console)
So, as I detailed in a previous thread, I bought a PS2 recently. I see that Best Buy and other stores are discounting this year's baseball games to $20 each and was wondering which of the 3 I've seen (MLB The Show, 2K6, and Slugfest 2006), if any, are worth getting. Is there a consensus top game among the three of them?
I also just got NHL 2K6 for $9, which is cool. It's nice to still have Stevie Y in the league...

I really enjoyed MLB The Show quite a bit last year for the rpg-like career mode they had. If that kind of thing interests you, it's definitely worth picking up.

Definitely MLB 06: The Show, probably one of the most realistic baseball games to come out in years on a console. That game is pretty amazing and it was hard for me to let go of it when I made the jump to Xbox 360. Definitely recommend The Show.

I recommend MLB: The Show, too. I don't know much about 2K6 (except that the 360 version is not very good, IMO), and Slugfest probably isn't the type of game you're looking for. MLB: The Show is great, however. It even has manage-only mode if you're into that, which reminds me of the old High Heat days.
A PS2 game has got to be good if I'm recommending it, because I don't really care for the PS2 at all.

I think you'll be amazed at how good MLB The Show is. Quite possibly the best baseball graphical game I've ever played. Everything is excellent from the announcers to the in game experience. In fact, this game has THE BEST presentation of ANY console game, period... and the great thing is, the gameplay is also quite fun. |

I second Todd's recommendation. MLB 2006 was and still is an amazing game.

I'm gonna throw in a vote for the former MVP franchise's college baseball game. Might not be what you're looking for, but it's a great game and just cool playing the college game.

I'm voting for MLB 06: The Show as well. Just a fantastic baseball game all around, either solo or against a friend (a buddy of mine and I have been staging 15 game rivalries all semester).

Thanks for the suggestions, although I may be waiting to make this purchase for a few weeks for some unknown reason...
