Is Eddie George Overrated?

Guy is guaranteed a starter every season and I don't remember the last time he has had a ypc over 4.0... he just is not that great..

This is a type of player that would never be in FOF:

Looks like you won't have to worry about him getting many carries today.

I dunno, but the play by play guy just said George had been brilliant in the first half. Yet he only has 43 yards on 11 carries.

While the intent was to show how bad George is compared to the other 'premiere' backs, this is a criticism of FOF.

I think the criticism can be that we have to rely to much on stats. A few years ago, Eddie George was a dominate back no matter what the stats said. To average just about 4 yards a carry with a team that everyone knew couldn't pass was amazing. You don't see that kind of stuff in any game.

Logic comes to me when I poop in the toilet of gold and wipe my ass with the flesh of a Russian Goat. That and when I attempt to bring peace to the world through a glass pipe.

He may be overrated, but I'm impressed with him playing this well with a seperated shoulder today.

I know what you mean. I drafted him this year and it's a real catch-22. You have to start him every week even though he does awful because if you don't start he has a big game and everybody says "you know you have to start Eddie everyweek"

Playing the way he did, against a better defense with a seperated shoulder. No, he's not overrated.

Clearly he is not the stallion he was, but in my mind he is still a top-10 complete back. He would be on my team.

My fantasy strategy is get running backs, running backs, and more running backs. I haven't even sipped the Eddie George Koolaide. He has never suited up on behalf of one of my fantasy teams.

You should really try the stud WR theory sometime, after that one stud runner in the 1st round that is. I love it when guys get hardons for mediocre backs in the 2nd round and a guy like Harrison or Moss slips to me.

I dunno, 76 touchdowns in his rookie year? I think he may be the greatest ever on that year alone...

Don't forget his 1368 yards per carry.

Agreed that he's over-rated now. But all you guys who are talking about how awful he is in fantasy football obviously didn't draft him in 2000. He was a stud back then.

he was also insanely consistent, a major plus in fantasy football.

Annually he is the 1st player put on my "Do not touch with a 10ft pole list". I've never owned Eddie George, never plan to. Eddie will never be the stud he was coming out of OSU again. There are easily 10-15 backs that are better for fantasy owners than George.

Eddie George doesn't have many season's left.
I think he has lost a step, or maybe two.

And never misses a start.

Yeah, he was a great one, right up until they put him on the cover of Madden.

His cap hit is something near 7M next year, so either he will have to renegotiate or else be cut. I bet he will renegotiate because he knows that there aren't too many teams that will give him a starter's role.

Wasn't Vick on a cover? I can't remember what is was, but he got hurt.

Any player that is put on some football cover, something always seems to happen to them.

Madden. Vick, Faulk, Culpepper, and George have been the people on the Madden cover recently.

Culpepper wasn't hurt, but he damn near lost his job last season.

Just like the SI jinks. If you are a star player stay away!
Thanks, but no thanks.

Does anybody see agents maybe putting some kind of clause in a players contract for this?

As someone who owns Tomlinson and Portis in a keeper league, I'm sending letters to EA everyday suggesting that Jamal Lewis should be on the next Madden cover.
