FOF: Pretty good first game for a rookie QB...

Gee, maybe I should have had his playing time set higher than 2 for that game, and we might have won.

SkyDog is loving Rutgers lately. His top 2 QBs in IHOF are also Scarlet Knights.

Yeah. He was 21/43 at the draft, and already knew 13 formations. In this new career, I basically quicksimmed through 2019 (just signing a key FA or two for the team I was "controlling"), and took over the worst team in the league in 2020, this season. In free agency, I grabbed a QB rated 46/46. No stud QB was available in the draft, but per my QB house rules, I can draft a guy with future potential <45 at any time, so Blackwell got picked in round 6. Blackwell jumped to 25/46 after training camp, so I figured I'd let him start in the preseason. He did well, so I set him up in the first game to start, but with playing time of 2. He's now my starter.

That guy wouldn't even be the primairy backup on my MP teams.

But he ought to become a mentor in a couple of seasons.

Well, this is SP, and I'm curious about his rising ratings. I'd like to see how much I can develop him if I play him a lot.

I think you will find the answer to be he can develop a lot and that playing time sadly isn't even all that important. I have had guys like this that I have picked up to sit on the bench as 3rd string sometimes and they all seem to reach above potential in about 4-5 years. Quik had a guy like that in his latest misfit toy run who was backing up his starter since he got on the team and in 5 years he passed his original ceiling.

I've noticed that guys who have a lot of formations can look a lot better than they should because they can run a more varied attack. This guy may be a breakout type canidate as that intellegence and the formations are pretty huge to QB's IMO.

It'll be an interesting project for sure. I was actually referring to the long snapping skill as being a backup, in reply to GWB's post, not the overall skills.
