So, What would you like for XMas/Hanukkah/etc...?
This thread is intended to be more than a little self-serving.
I have what, I suppose, is a good problem to have. The other day my wife told me she had no idea what to get me for Hanukkah and that if I didn't start giving her ideas I'd get socks. Maybe. I grew up Christian, so transitioning to gift-giving for Hanukkah was (and still is, sometimes) a bit of a challenge. Specifically our household "tradition" which involves giving each other small gifts each night of Hanukkah. In my experience, this has been more difficult than one big present for the 25th and calling it a day (or a season). However, this year I planned ahead and managed to scope out 8 small yet fun gifts for my wife, so I was feeling smug and all pleased with myself when I announced this to her. Which spurred her response (above). The thing is, I have no idea what I want. So, enlighten me. What should I want? |

A winning lottery ticket would be nice
edit to add: Okay, if we're supposed to help with the other nights, I guess the definition of "small" matters somewhat. But in the $10-$15 range, how about a gift card/certificate to some restaurant that you like/she hates and you end up grabbing lunch there on your own? Or a favorite coffee shop/bakery/whatever that you enjoy but that's one you don't hit very often for whatever reason? (by giving you a giftcard from there she kind of forces you to do something you enjoy)? If I'm going too low in the price range, there's not much that says "I Love You" to me better than booking a (legit) spa appointment for a massage.

Books, music, and dvd's are always a good option. I keep an amazon.com wish list so that people know which ones in particular I'd be interested in.

On a strictly material level without getting too extravagent, there are only 2 things I really want. An A-1 replica jacket or a nice telescope that has some auto track features.

So that's worth the 100 bucks? I was thinking about getting one. The concept of being able to kill anything that may be lurking on my floors is extremely appealing to me. |

It depends are there are things you already have that you would like accessories for? I have a Canon Digital Rebel and I asked for a wireless trigger for it, as well as a tripod. I like to cook so I have some cook books on my wish list. And lastly I'd really like ot get the new Asus media player. We will see what I get.

On Amazon it's $68 with free delivery. I just think it's great for it's simplicity... put water in, pull trigger, clean floor. It doesn't do as good as if you get down on your knees & scrub, but who the hell wants to do that? (Hint: You have to sweep/vacuum the floor 1st, or you just push wet crap around.) |

You bought her Rizon's GF in lingerie for your wife? That's pretty hot.

I do this, too. I wish more people in my family would. Don't get me wrong, I usually try to get at least something for everybody that isn't on a list or wasn't outright requested, to make it a surprise, but I like it when people give ideas of things they want or could really use. That's actually how I describe things on my amazon wishlist, a list of items I'd like but don't "need," but would like to have at some time. In the non-holiday season, I tend to use those items to pad out under-$25 purchases. This year, however, I just want my darn thumb functioning again so I can finally START Dragon Age. /tk

I'm not looking for much this year:
Through the Ages Duel of Ages expansions Other than that, not looking at anything really. No books out there I want to read, I guess I could use some khakis, but I can get those myself. |
