There is a really mediocre junior college in Austin that uses that signal to cheer on their team. Maybe he's trying to court the mediocre voters.

Seriously, Bush must be getting better if the best people can come up with is him giving a hang ten sign.

In Hawaii, the pinkie and thumb is called the shaka or hang loose but I have seen the 'hook 'em horns' on the beach also, just not as much as the shaka. Maybe it's a Cali surfer thing.

There's more than a couple partisan jokes to be had here but the really nice cheap shot at UT puts me in such good spirits as to not

Doh, that was actually my mistake. Bushy was giving the westside signal. It was common for rappers or hip hop artists and thus fans of those artists in the 90's to to do the pinky and index finder and screech out WEST SIIIIDE.

He's just trying to represent yo

The real question is, is Bush really a great christian as portrayed? (I'm serious)

I think the question is far to broad to be honestly answered since christianity really isn't a single belief but rather several different beliefs under one banner with a unifying purpose but vastly different ways of getting there.

Do I think that Bush represents his form of christianity well, I'd say yes he does but it's not a form of christianity that I find palatable. I don't think he's dishonest about it just to curry political favor. I believe he honestly believes it and bases his decisions on that belief.

Perhaps it's the sign language equivalent of "nooculer" It's meant to be the Vulcan greeting

Maybe he is giving the evil eye. Its basically a curse that old Eye-talian ladys used to give to you if you pissed them off.

You're kidding, right? Cause the west side hand sign naturally involves making a W with your hand. It is illustrated here in bling form.

It actually would've made more sense for Bush to do this one.
