Tony Roma
There was a long discussion of Tony Roma's in the casual dining thread. Essentially, it came down to two major groups:
Group 1: Tony Roma makes a mean microwaveable pork BBQ Sandwich. His BBQ chicken Pizza is also excellent. While the chain is bleeding units and is no longer as prevalent as it once was, it doesn't deserve the crap it gets. Group 2: Tony Roma sandwiches suck. The Pork tastes like cardboard. The debate interested me on a lot of levels. I used to have a 7/11 right down the street from me, and nothing was better than fixing a Pork BBQ sandwich, and washing it down with a big gulp. But my friend Southey didn't eat pork. And furthermore, he stated, that if he was going to put his relationship with Allah into question, he certainly wouldn't eat that kind of gnawed up pork flavored filler. How he determined what and wasn't legitimate pork always fascinated me. Fresh baby back ribs, even if they were cryofrozen were legitimate pork. But a Tony Roma sandwich wasn't. Pork Tenderlion? MASSIVE, HUGE, MONUMENTAL PORK GOODNESS. Tony Roma's BBQ chicken Pizza? 100% NOT a good entree. That's why I'm fascinated by the debate. Last edited by stevew : 09-29-2009 at 03:04 PM. |

This is no lie.
I was at Tony Roma's once when, at the next table the woman in a hushed shout said "WHAT? FUCK YOU!" She then threw her napkin in his face & stormed through the exit. Through his meal he never looked from his plate, until he asked the waiter for the bill & to wrap her meal. Once the door shut behind him the whole place fell out! |

I got drunk at the Las Vegas Tony Roma's and passed out in the elevator. I later discovered it wasn't caused by the alcohol, but by the BBQ pork sandwich they microwaved for me.

Any "BBQ" restaurant that has to use high fructose corn syrup in their sauce isn't legit, and isn't worth spending money.
