Israel Moody busts out with the finest scoring performance of his career. The only players in school history who have scored as many points as Israel does tonight are Mason Reynolds, Zayden Calhoun, Reed Weisberg, and Kenny Scalf, who did so before Coach Sims arrived. Unlike the other players I'm familiar with on this list, Israel does his scoring from inside the arc. Mason, Zayden, and Reed were all long-range threats.

Israel is far from a one-dimensional scorer; his rebound and assist totals are up this year, and he's second in the Big East behind Kai Smith in steals. It's hard to believe Israel is only considered the #9 pro prospect among draft-eligible players in the Big East. I guess the pros are wary of the effects of his Achilles injury, which don't seem to be holding him back.
Record: 9-1.

The new members of Division I have improved their rosters enough that I'll coach my team against them the same way I do any other team. No more letting the bench guys start while I bury the All-Big East players at the bottom of the depth chart. Our neighbors from Swarthmore demonstrate why that's a good idea, by taking a 37-34 lead that stuns the crowd at Wawa Arena.

We flex our muscles a bit more in the second half, when Israel Moody uses his full set of skills to confound the Garnet defense. Meanwhile, Kai Smith shows off his ability to control a game without shooting.
Record: 10-1.

I don't remember when Lafayette was last unranked in either the national poll or the Mid Major poll. Their new coach, Andy Smith, was promoted from the scouting position to replace Michael Coffin, who departed for Maryland after two outstanding seasons. Coach Smith is a young Level 4 coach with some promise. I hope the Leopards remain patient with him.

His current team is no match for us, as we spread the ball around and let everyone eat. That's Kai Smith's specialty. Even after a few games when he was more careless than usual, Kai is second in the nation in assist-turnover ratio, behind Tennessee's outstanding freshman Aaron Scott.
Record: 11-1.
