I hope you like the new format I'm using for my posts. After summarizing nearly 1200 games, I was starting to become weary of writing statistical highlights. Posting the box score and making comments around it is more fun.
Once upon a time,
Graham Sims regularly took his Lafayette teams to Nashville, where Vanderbilt give them regular spankings. Then, his early Villanova teams played the Commodores in marquee matchups between highly-ranked powerhouses. Now, it's Vanderbilt who are looking up a bit at the titans of the Main Line.

Like Creighton, Gonzaga isn't nearly as good in
Graham Sims' world as they are in the real one. The Bulldogs began with a Prestige of 83. It's now 37. Other teams with 37 Prestige include Austin Peay and Western Illinois. Kennesaw State, USC Upstate, and Robert Morris are all more Prestigious.
I wonder why Gonzaga uses only six players until I look at their roster. They have only six players who CAN play tonight. Their wacky coach,
Joshua Beyer, decided to redshirt four true freshmen this year. A former walk-on at Missouri State transferred in and received a scholarship, so they have to redshirt him, too. Three players are currently injured. That's why the Bulldogs have only six players available to face Villanova at home tonight.
The result is what you might expect. The situation is made worse when Gonzaga's only reserve fouls out. None of the six players can stop
Israel Moody, but few players have done so this year. Izzy is making almost 60 percent of his shots. If he hits his 22-point average next game, he'll reach 1000 points on the nose.
Asaad Richardson shows signs of snapping out of his shooting slump, which is very encouraging.
