Whew.

Drexel is up by five, 40-35, at the intermission, and we barely have enough to turn things around in the second half. Kai Smith endures a very rare rough game, with almost as many turnovers as assists. Meanwhile, the Dragons shoot the lights out from distance.

Thank goodness Israel Moody and Dan O'Halloran find space to do their thing close to the hoop, or we'd have lost this one. It demonstrates how important it is for us to have Kai playing at his best.

We haven't shot threes well this season, but when you play defense like we do tonight and are as efficient as we've been offensively in every other respect, we don't need to hit lots of triples.

Kai Smith plays like Kai Smith. Israel Moody adds additional turnover creation to his portfolio, and the result is a very pleasant trip down to Charlottesville.

You have to play much better than we do tonight in order to beat the best team in the nation. As it is, we come closer to winning than we deserve to come.

Wayne Bradhold and Dan O'Halloran battle all evening long, and both big men have their moments. It's not terribly rare for Bradhold to take only two shots. He averages only four field goal attempts per game. It's the other things he does that make Wayne one of the two or three big men the pros covet most.

We shoot terribly, especially from behind the arc, and Kai Smith endures a nightmare of a game. Against top opponents, as Kai goes, so go the Wildcats; that's becoming abundantly clear.

We restore normal service with a win over Bucknell at Wawa Arena.

Dan O'Halloran's stats are modest, with the exception of those five blocks, but he commands the low blocks at both ends of the floor. The shooters shoot better than they have all year long, and Kai Smith directs the offense and takes care of the ball in vintage style.

When we do all these things, we are a very good basketball team.
Record: 5-1.
