Pitt replaces Boston College as the third member of the triumvirate atop the Big East. Whether or not that change will be a lasting one is yet to be seen.

Graham Sims began his coaching career with a reputation for coaching defense. Now, the fully mature Coach Sims directs teams that are among the nation's most dynamic offensive forces in the nation every year. This year's Wildcats once again lead the nation in scoring, and our shooting slash line is the best by some margin; the teams that beat us in any one category can't match us in the others.

We weren't a terrific defensive team, with the exception of our ability to force turnovers, especially through steals.

Our offensive efficiency (117.2) ranks first. Our defensive efficiency (90.8) places 21st.

The first conclusion I draw when I look at these stats: these dudes could shoot the basketball. Every scholarship player shot at least 48 percent from the floor except one: Israel Moody, who shot .501 as a freshman. If the entire team shot as "poorly" as Weston Wagner, we'd still have the fourth best field goal percentage in the nation.

Other things I notice:
  • John Cannon had one of the better one-year records from behind the three point line in Villanova history.
  • Dan O'Halloran became the first Villanova player to collect over 400 rebounds in a single season.
  • Kai Smith fell two assists short of Justice Stafford's single-season mark, set back in 2033. Has Justice really been gone that long?

There's only one Farewell this season, and it's up next.
