Player of Game: SG Tadgh Phelan (GTOWN)
Tadgh Phelan wins the battle, but we win the war.
Very few people have scored 37 points against a
Graham Sims team. We do a good job of keeping the other Hoyas under control, either by limiting their touches or forcing them into bad shots.
Immanuel Bahr plays extremely well off the bench, teaming up with
Dan O'Halloran and
Forrest Curl to frustrate Georgetown's excellent big men.
I ought to go back and identify the Villanova games that matched up the #1 and #2 teams in the nation, and see how we've done in those contests.
Record: 18-1 (4-1).

Player of Game: PG Kai Smith (VLNV)
At halftime, we lead the Orange, 52-38. Then, we roar out of the locker room and score 11 unanswered points in 118 seconds. At 63-38, we figure we'll coast home easily.
Syracuse has other plans.
With 1:32 remaining, the Orange lead, 84-83. It takes a
Kai Smith three-pointer with four seconds left to secure the victory.
See what I mean when I say any Big East team can win against any other, on any given day? And that's what makes it fun.
Record: 19-1 (5-1).

John Cannon adds 20, and
Kai Smith supplements 12 points with 8 assists and 6 rebounds.
Israel Moody rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.
