Joe Lien was one of
Graham Sims' first big-name recruits when he signed with Lafayette back in the mid-teens. Known as a terrific shooter, Joe scored almost 1800 points in his three-year career, averaging over 17 per game.
His son,
Tyson, looks just like Joe when he releases his jumper, and tonight it went in at a rate that would make Dad proud. Joe says Tyson is a much better defender than he ever was; honestly, that wouldn't take much.
Tyson's classmates,
Assad Richardson and
Weston Wagner, also shoot well form long range. Our defense forces the Minutemen into 32 turnovers. It's a great start for our trip to sunny Hawai'i.

We get contributions from guys up and down the depth chart as we win the Maui Shootout over a tough Cincinnati team.
We don't look like the defensive juggernaut we've been the past two or three years. We let
Paolo Bolling gash us for 27 points, scoring inside and outside without much interference. But we seem to be able to score enough to win even when our defense isn't clicking like we want.
It's our second victory in this fun tournament in the Sunshine State.
