Yeah, it's a samurai film, often titled hara-kiri when sold outside of Japan.
It's not an Akira Kurosawa film, but it's every bit as good and MUCH darker than anything Kurosawa did. Stars Testuya Nakadai, who was the "baddie" in Sanjuro & Yojimbo, as well as the main guy in Ran.
