STARS OF THE GAME UPDATE


RF Jose Cabello--Milwaukee, Age 32--6/10/5
Cabello had another outstanding year. He batted .322 (his highest ever) with 43 homers and 109 RBI’s. He led the league in slugging pct (.644). He made a run at the Triple Crown before fading a bit in September. He’ll certainly shatter the career home run record next season. He has 558, and the record is 567. He made his 8th All-Star appearance, and collected his 200th hit.

2B Laurence Tobar--Florida, Age 29--7/10/7
.298, 45 HR, 103 RBI. He also stole 21 bases. Tobar led the league in runs scored with 121, and was 2nd in homers with 45. He made his 4th All-Star appearance.

LF Albert Evans--Chicago(N), Age 34--9/7/5
Evans had a slight drop-off in power, but everything else remained about the same. He hit .317 with 23 HR, 88 RBI and 35 SB. He made his 7th All-Star appearance

Larry Gutowski--3B,Minnesota, age 33, 8/5/6
Gutowski racked up his 9th straight 300+ season, hitting .305 with 12 HR and 63 RBI. He missed five weeks due to various injuries, and his contact rating dropped from 9 to 8.

SP Raul "Goldie" Grajeda-Detroit--age 36--10/6/8
Goldie Grajeda may be fading. He went 13-15 with a 4.13 ERA this year.

SP Pedro Diaz--Montreal--Age 34--10/8/9/7
His streak of six straight seasons with an ERA under 3.00 was snapped this year, but his string of being either 1st or 2nd in WHIP was extended for a 7th season. He went 14-13 with a 3.20 ERA.
