Sorry for the delay in responding. I tend to get caught up in other things on the weekends.
I have found that the best way to judge the talent of the others in your series is to look at their match history. Take a look at their typical match ratings, as well as the number of stars their players generally put up.
This is not only a good way to judge talent, but you can also use it to determine if the other teams have any tendencies which you may be able to exploit when you play against them.
