2007 Season

Julio Douthit, WR - UCLA

UCLA's receiver talent is a thing of beauty this season, with 4 players with potentials of 85+. Julio develops nicely this year as he gets some playing time, and is now scouted at 35/100. He starts in 9 games this year and is reasonably productive, with 41 catches for 600 yards and an impressive 7 TDs. He definitely has a knack for getting into the endzone. UCLA really falls apart this year, and finishes at 4-7. This includes getting routed 66-7 by Cal and getting shut out by USC, a dismal year for the Bruins, certainly.

Mike Bradford, QB - Michigan State

Mike is still following Jimmie Keaton, who is the Conference MVP this year, so he gets little playing time. Fortunately Keaton graduates this year. Mike's puny stats on the year are 12-13 for 172 yards and 2 TDs. He is developing nicely however, and is now scouted at 41/86. He should definitely start for the Spartans next season. Powered by Keaton's arm, Michigan State goes 10-2 this year, tops in the Big 10, and tops it off with a Rose Bowl win over Air Force

John Barber, OG - Penn State

John truly comes into his own this season, in amazing form. He starts all 12 games and finishes with 44 blocks in 114 opportunities, once again named Big 10 1st Team Guard. He seems fully developed already, and is now scouted 88/88, and has bulked up to 321 pounds. Penn State finishes 9-3 and a disappointing 5th in the Big 10. They demolish Maryland in the Cotton Bowl.

Terrell Washington, OLB - Utah

Terrell is again named Utah's starting WLB, and plays 9 games until a high ankle sprain ends his season. He records 49 tackles, 14 assists, a sack, and 9 TFL which is once again good enough for Mountain West 2nd Team OLB. He is facing a lot of quality competition at his position, and is scouted 50/52 this year. Utah falls to 5-6 on the year and next to last in the Mountain West, very disappointing after last year.

Jeff Hammond, OT - Northwestern

Hammond comes into his own this year, developing before everyone's eyes. He has 33 blocks in 95 attempts, an improvement over last season. He is now scouted at 67/76, so everyone is hoping for better things. Northwestern improves to 4-7 this year, which is definite progress.

Clifton Freestone, DE - UCLA

Clifton grabs a starting spot with both hands this year, though he has quite a bit of development to go, currently scouted 30/60. In 11 starts he records 26 tackles, 6 assists and 3 sacks. His coaches think he can do much better.

Cole Shields, SS - Tulsa

Cole once again starts at SS for Tulsa, standing out of an anonymous crowd at the position. His coaches are convinced he can become a gamebreaking player, he is scouted 34/70 this year. His role is changed this year, with an emphasis on stopping the run and not the ballhawking he enjoyed last year. His interceptions go from 8 to 1, but his tackles and assists go from 50-17 to 81-26. Clearly he is an adaptable player. Tulsa finishes 4-7 and 7th in the WAC.
