The reason why the limit isn't enforced in the game fully is because if some NHL teams send you prospects and you go over the limit because of only those players, then you cannot release anyone to get below the limit since they are not yours literally in the game but the NHL team's, leaving you a bit stuck.
Real life reserve list sizes are on the to-do list and the code somewhat supports the concept already, so it is incoming some day. Maybe not a patch though since it will require new text and all for the news items about going over these limits etc.

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it. It certainly hasn't hampered the fun factor that much as I've been playing for 15 of the last 24 hours.
