After buying Frank Lampard from Chelsea for £23mil and Cristiano Ronaldo from ManU for £20mil in the 05/06 season, Valencia once again takes out the wallet and spends big money in the transfer marked. This time they pick up forward Javier Ernesto Chevanton from Barcelona for the price of £32.5mil. The 26year old player from Uruguay has played in Barcelona for two seasons after arriving from Monaco for £10.25mil.
Spanish club Real Madrid also added a new player to the roster. Two weeks before the Spanish league kicks off manager Benito Floro spend £14.25mil on a new defensive midfielder. His name is Philipp Lahm and he has played 9 internationals for Germany and arrives from Bayern M. The signing is announced only hours after Zinedine Zidane tells the world press about his plans to retire after this season.
