3 minute mark: Howard stops a long shot from Whittingham.

7 minute mark: Howard tips a long shot from Whittingham over the bar.

16 minute mark: Eagles dribbles to about midfield.. passes to Rooney.. he dribbles between two defenders.. passes it to Downing in the box.. hard shot.. upper left corner.. the keeper dives.. tips it over the bar.

27 minute mark: Howard stops a long range shot from Dickhoff.

30 minute mark: Rooney dribbles it down the right sideline.. past three defenders.. crosses it to Downing.. brilliant cross that curves aroiund a defender.. Downing shoots.. a chip shot.. over the keeper.. into the upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0! The Announcers think Rooney is delighting in the limelight.

35 minute mark: Downing is hurt in a collision with Mustafa Teymoeri (Gorlitz's backup).. Downing says he can continue to play. I'll watch him closely.

40 minute mark: Dickhoff passes it to Moore in the box.. he shoots from 15 yards out.. Howard saves it.

42 minute marik: Rooney takes it all the way down the pitch from our own zone.. runs past three defenders.. dribbles towards the left post.. draws two defenders and the keeper over.. passes it to his right.. Adriano heads it into the wide open right half of the net! GOAL!!!! 2-0! Rooney created that goal.

46 minute mark: Rooney with a rough two footed tackle on Mustafa Teymoeri.. yellow card for Rooney.


Halftime: 2-0 lead for us. I can't believe we only have 73,000 fans here today. I thought this Champions League Match would draw a full house.


47 minute mark: Moore with a hard shot from in the box.. Howard saves it.. Dickhoff has the rebound.. shoots.. open net.. Chivu dives and gets in front of it.. Saving a goal with his chest.

63 minute mark: Rooney tries a hard curving shot from 20 yards out.. the keeper manages to block it.

65 minute mark: Bierofka crosses it to Moore in the box.. he shoots from 10 yards out.. Howard blocks it.

73 minute mark: Downing with a corner.. Adriano has it in the middle of the box.. shoots.. upper right corner.. great save by the keeper.

78 minute mark: Howard stops a 20 yard shot from Moore.

85 minute mark: Eagles tripped Bierofka.. yellow card on Eagles.


Game over! 2-0 win (4-2 on aggregate) We are through to the next round of the Champions League!
