Training Camp starts!!! Everybody is put on a preseason training schedule that includes plenty of crosscountry running and laps around the field. Players love that
July 11, 2007
Joe Murphy signs a contract with Dunfermline. The transfer is immediate. We get $40k for the transfer, while we had paid $36k for the rights to Murphy in the final stretch of the 2005-06 season.
Murphy strong play in that final stretch is what allowed us to have a strong run and eventually win the playoffs to promote to the Championship. The development of
Rob Beckwith and his inspired play while the team was in the Championship led to the departure of
Murphy after only one season.
We also play a home friendly against Wolves on the 11th. Given the departure of
Murhpy, 16yo
Ryan Morris, our promising and ambitious keeper prospect, will be the backup to
Beckwith.
The game ends 0-0 with
Ryan Morris getting named
Man of the Match! He only played for the last 30 minutes but faced many shots and didn't let one in. Good show kid!!
Richie Wellens and
Jacob Burns fare quite well in their first appearances with Luton, both getting ratings of 7. On the other hand,
Bartosz Tarachulski and
Tony James both play poorly, getting ratings of 5.
Our keepers got sprayed, Wolves outshooting us 19 to 11 (5 to 3 on target). Wolves also won possession with 55%.
International Round Up
Ivan Kaviedes had a good game with Ecuador in their first Copa América match. He got a form rating of 7. The Copa América will be played during most of our preseason, so he won't participate in many friendlies, but should be match fit when he'll rejoin the team after that.
