As I predicted, ball-possession would be the key. We converted third downs and avoided the turnover. Also as I predicted, their penalties would come back to haunt them.
Hackett and
Eppbright were the difference-makers, Hackett with 8 catches for 80+ and Eppbright, who ran for 60+ and caught 6 passes of his own.
Next up: Guttenberg, a team that has had a stellar record all year long, but with hardly any talent on the roster to show for it. They have a solid TE, but other than that, they're weak according to my scout. Nonetheless, statistically, they boast the #2 rushing offense and the #1 rushing defense. HOW?? Must be the coach, who is solid everywhere and rated E at defensive play calling. In other categories, they are competitive. Their only weakness, statistically, seems to be red-zone scoring.
Key to this game will be limiting their rushing, as they will likely limit our scoring opportunities.
On the injury front,
Seth Hackett is questionable, as is
Hunter Flynn. Not like it's anybody important or anything.
My call is now or never for that state title, so I'm starting them both.
