My training as a mass communications student taught me that a "good" commercial is one that you remember. You remember the commercial, and you remember the product it's advertising. More importantly, though, is
when you remember it. If you remember it when you're looking for that type of product, the commercial has done its job.
The above is what makes a commercial good from a professional standpoint. From the consumer's point of view, though, I guess a good commercial is one that you enjoy talking about with other people later.
