| South Carolina dominated the statistical battle, marching around the field like the Sioux at Little Big Horn, but 15 penalties for well over 100 yards stymied drive after drive, giving Vanderbilt hope. The 'Cocks held on, however, as the Commodores, minus Lionel Ritchie, turned the ball over on downs in Carolina territory in the waning minutes.
