Behind the scenes:

As we expected, they ran all over us. But we didn't expect to lose the battles we normally win: turnovers, third downs, and time of possession. The loss of Eppbright in the second half really hurt us. We will need to significantly alter our game plan now, as Eppbright was a huge part of it, FB running set at 80 and using almost exclusively 2 WR and 2 RB sets. Our backup isn't a complete dud, but he's no Eppbright. On a positive note, our secondary is fully healthy for the first time this season.

Unfortunately, this loss puts our objective in jeopardy, as Lansing will not lose. It doesn't make statistical sense, but they won't! Here's the standings:

Mar-Mac: 9-2
Lansing: 8-3
Valley of Elgin: 7-4
North Winn: 6-5
Cresco-ND: 4-7
Garnavillo: 4-7

Next Up: A very dangerous 7-4 Webster City. We can't look ahead to the following week, when we play Lansing at home, undoubtedly the most important game of the season. For now, we look at Webster: A big-time running team (3rd in the NFL) that also is among league leaders in turnover ratio. Their D-line is a little dinged up, and their secondary is merely average, so we should have the firepower to put up some points.
