INT Return Keys Spartan Victory
WAUZEKA, WIS—The Mar-Mac Spartans lost the lead and their starting quarterback in the third quarter of Friday's contest, but thanks to a 43-yard INT return, they didn't lose the game. Trailing 10-13, Spartan linebacker Rondell Mummert broke on a screen pass, picking it off and running 43 yards for a touchdown. Once again, the ability of the Spartan defense to come up with big plays gave Mar-Mac the win, by a final score of 23-20.

The Wauzeka Hornets, boasting one of the best defenses in Wisconsin, shut down the normally effective Mar-Mac running game, holding the Spartans to only 36 yards on the ground. But the Spartans came up big on defense, holding tough on third downs and grabbing a pair of interceptions off Wauzeka's all-conference quarterback.

Mar-Mac looks ahead to conference rival, Lansing, next week. The Spartans will be without the services, however, of star QB Lincoln Ingram and DE Kennedy Eisenbraun, both of whom suffered minor injuries in Friday's game.
