Fourth Quarter Collapse

Fourth Quarter Collapse

Hempstead, NY - Things are quiet around Weeb Ewbank Hall today, as the Jets try to explain how they let the Dolphins score 10 points in the final five minutes. It had appeared that the Jets were well on their way of defeating the Dolphins in Miami, and revenging their Week 11 loss to the 'Phins. The loss dropped the Jets out of first place by one-half of a game to the Dolphins, and are now tied with New England who also lost this week. One-half game behind the Jets and Patriots are the Bills who defeated New England 17-15. The Jets still hold a spot in the post season in what has become an extremely tight race.

Coach McGregor, looked like a coach who was frustrated by yesterday's results. "This is a tough business, and there are a lot of things that have been disappointing about this season, however, we are still in the race for this thing, and are now prepared to move on and plan for Arizona." The Jets will face the Cardinals this week who have shown signs of being a competitive team as of late. The Cards have won two of there last three behind rookie free agent quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who surprised everyone when he beat out veteran Jeff Blake, who was later released.

The Jets once again controlled the clock with the run, carrying the ball 43 times for 157 yards. Rarely used return man, Chad Morton provided a spark with the run, as he carried 11 times for 58 yards. Martin once again provided the tough inside yards, as he went for 65 yards on 24 carries. Martin has failed to average over 4.0 yards per carry in each game this season. Something that is a concern to McGregor. "We realize the numbers on Curtis on not impressive, however, he is the one carrying the ball into the middle of the line and grinding out some tough yards, he also, has provided help in the passing game." Martin has caught 70 passes this season.

Pennington was intercepted two times and did not throw for a touchdown. Chad has been intercepted 5 times in the past 4 weeks, something that the Jets can ill-afford to do with their slow moving offense.

The defensive play was solid once again, holding their opponents to under 300 yards in total offense. It marked the fourth straight solid performance from the defense.

With the play of the D as of late, and the strong team running game the Jets could make some noise, if they can get to the playoffs?
