Preseason Injuries

Major Injuries around the NFL following the Preseason:

Baltimore loses guard, Edwin Mulitalo for the season following a torn quadriceps muscle. Mulitalo is one of the strongest players in the league, and teamed with Jonathan Ogden formed perhaps the best left side of an offensive line in the league.

Cincinnati loses All-Pro wide receiver, Chad Johnson for the next 11 weeks with a severe hamstring pull. Johnson caught 99 passes last season for nearly 1500 yards.

Cleveland loses strong safety Earl Little for the next 13 weeks with a torn lateral knee ligament. Little intercepted 4 passes last season for the Browns.

Denver loses quarterback, Jake Plummer for the next 11 weeks with a severe hamstring pull. Plummer last season threw 32 touchdown passes and had a quarterback rating of 92.2. Charlie Batch will now start for the Broncos. On the defensive side of the ball the Broncos lose John Mobely for the season. Mobely only played in six games last season, and now will miss the entire 2004 season with an injury to his MCL.

Detroit has lost starting free safety Brian Walker for the season and pehaps ending his career. Walker is suffering from repetitive concussion syndrome and is in his 9th season.

Green Bay has lost its defensive front leader, and starting defensive end, Joe Johnson for the next 16 weeks with a severe high ankle sprain. Johnson had 8.5 sacks last season for the Packers. The Pack has also lost its starting right guard, Marco Rivera for the next 14 weeks with a torn rotator cuff.

Jacksonville has lost its second year defensive end, Brandon Green for the season. Green underwent reconstructive knee surgery. Green started all 16 games last season as a rookie for the Jags.

The New York Giants have lost middle linebacker, Michael Barrow for perhaps the season. Barrow underwent ACL surgery on his knee. Barrow led the team in tackles last season with 99.

Philadelphia will once again be without their run mauiling guard, Jermane Mayberry. Mayberry underwent MCL knee surgery and will be out for at least the next 3 months. Mayberry only played 4 games last season for the Eagles.

Pittsburgh will be with out starting right guard, Kendall Simmons for perhaps the season. Simmons underwent reconstructive knee surgery during the off season.

Washington has suffered a major blow to its defense. Starting strongside linebacker, and all-pro, LaVar Arrington. Arrington is done for the season with and ACL injury that will require reconstructive surgery. Arrington recorded 104 tackles, and 9 sacks last season for the 'Skins.
