Well, it turns out the “back sooner than you know it” didn’t quite ring true, but at long last we have fired up the old TCY and resuscitated the hibernating Notre Dame squad. Let’s hope the long layoff will have them a little creaky as we head into this week’s critical matchup against #19 Boston College. As you may or may not have remembered, when we last left our heroes, they had romped to an embarrassing 9-1 record behind the arm of QB Wendell Goodwin (194-319, 2,859 yards, 30 TD’s, 16 ints), the ex-defensive end who foiled our season’s plans by metamorphisizing into the next Duante Culpepper. His throwing, and the crushing offense of senior halfback Lonnie Wolfe (166 carries, 1179 yards, 7.1 avg., 46 catches, 18 total TD’s) have carried us on an 8-game winning streak and pulled us to a #6 ranking as we head into the last regular game of the season.
