WEEK 12
Atlanta (6-4) @ Oakland (2-8)

Oakland is a bad team with very little offence. They are led by a rookie QB with the worst QB rating in the league. They have a decent run defense, but that is the whole basis of their team. We are favored by 6. Their run defense should keep the score close, but we should be able to take the game.
Atlanta took control of this game in the first quarter, and never looked back. Once again it was a spectacular defensive display. Oakland had just 2 drives of longer than 20 yards, and just 6 first downs in the game. The defense set up the offence, as 3 of the offences TDs were set up by turnovers. Our offence was mostly unable to sustain many lengthy drives, but they really didn’t need to. Atlanta crushed Oakland 31-0.

Nixon ran a lot, but for the most part he was ineffective. Sure he finished with 90 yards and a TD, but it took him 33 carries to do so. Nixon also had five carries (on three separate drives) from the one yard line, and he could only score the one time. He did however break his streak of consecutive games with a fumble. I also should note that on a 7 yard end around early in the first quarter Nixon broke 1000 yards rushing for the season.

On another negative note, just as our offensive line was getting completely healthy, starting RT Scottie Fisher fractures his foot. He may very well be out the rest of the regular season.

WEEK 13
Atlanta 7-4 @ Detroit 5-6
Detroit is a very balanced team. They have no stars, just a smattering of decent players here and there, just enough to bring them a win or two here and their but not enough to really be competitive. Frankly, I think that they are just about the same skill level as us, except that we have had a much easier schedule. We are favored by one.

I am not even sure what happened this week. This was an ugly game that all of us whish we could forget. Detroit wins 35-10.

We were killed in time of possession, which limited Nixon to just 21 carries for 84 yards. Nixon once again dropped the ball.

The team’s running game was hurt again by the injury to our fullback. He should be out for the remainder of the regular season.

3/4 SEASON REVIEW

With 12 games behind us we are in a great place as far as making the playoffs goes. 3 of our final 4 games are against teams with losing records (the other is just 6-6), so there is no reason why we shouldn’t win at least two of our final games. Two wins would guarantee us the division title, though even one win very well may be enough

Our offence is the second worst in the league, now averaging 14.2 points. But we are still one of the best teams in the league at not allowing turnovers. In spite of all of Leland Nixon’s fumbles, he has only ever lost one. All told we have just 10 turnovers this year. But as you know, it is our incredible defense that has kept us going this year. We give up just 15 points on average, 3rd best in the league. The team’s rushing defense is the best in league history.

For Leland Nixon, he is second in the league with 1170 rushing yards, 5th in TDs with 7, 1st in attempts with 334 and his 3.5 yard average is better than just two starting RBs.
