Soriun did nothing to hide the shock in his eyes. In his land, the priest was the warband leader. There was no discussion. For a moment, he considered pointing out this fact. Just as suddenly as it came, his anger subsided.
I am a stranger in this land, he thought. They know nothing of my customs, and I am here to improve relations. Nothing can be gained by making a stand here. Besides, the paladin is a promising soldier. He will do well.
"Yes, I second the notion. Benton Gale should lead us."
Soriun could feel himself tense up for the row that could follow. Some of his companions might take issue with being led by a holy warrior.
Under his breath, he muttered..."This could turn out to be a very long day."
