2004 Mid-Season Report

Overview:
After purchasing the Dragons in week 2, the T.H.U.L. ownership group went right to work, picking up several veteran role-players to mentor its solid core of young stars.

Recognizing that the team underperformed in 2003 and seeing the looming 2005 salary cap horrors, ownership quickly called in the current coaching staff to discuss game strategies. Culling through the playbooks, offensive coordinator, Ken Sellers, promised a game plan better suited to the strengths of quarterback Seymor Barre and a strong offensive line, anchored by leader, Craig Fecteau.

In an early season shakeup, ownership also gave defensive coordinator T.J. German more playcalling duties, publically acknowledging its lack of confidence in head coach Warren Greene's ability to manage the Dragon's complicated 3-4 Defense. After ownership decreed that the playoffs are a must, Greene has to assume his job is on the line.

So far ownership's heated pressure on the Dragon's coaching staff has worked. The team has taken advantage of a soft schedule to post a 7-1 record halfway through the 2004 season, a conferance best. Top Analytical Comparison Organization (TACO) has ranked the Dragons 5th in the league (up from a pre-season rank of 17th).

Meanwhile, Seymor Barre has shocked the league with an MVP quality performance, leading a offense that is averaging 23 points a game. The defense has also exceeded expectations, only giving up a surprising 14 points a game.

The Dragons are well on their way to reaching their goals of the playoffs, and perhaps even the coveted CFL league trophy. T.H.U.L. has Sacramento fans excited once again.

Team MVP:
Seymor Barre - With a league best QB rating of 102, a league best 14 TDs, and almost 2000 yards passing in 8 games, is there any wonder why he's the team MVP? Snubbed for most of the season, if Barre can keep it up, the league will have to acknowledge him in the league MVP race.

Future Stars:
These players excite both the coaching staff and the team scouts with their potential. Could they be the future of the Dragons franchise and an improved defense?
