Jets and McKenzie Agree

Hempstead, NY - The Jets and right tackle Kareem McKenzie came to terms on a long term contract that will keep McKenzie in a Jets uniform through the 2007 season. McKenzie who would have been a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the season was a priority to Marra to sign before the season ended.

We wanted Kareem McKenzie to know that we wanted him here and that we were willing to offer him a long term deal to secure him financially. McKenzie was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2001 draft, and replaced then starter Ryan Young, who was left exposed during the expansion draft. McKenzie stands at 6-6" and weighs 330 pounds. He is now in his second year starting at Right Tackle. Although he has not performed on the level he was at last season, the Jets feel confident in his ability.
