April 26, 2009
New York, NY (Ticker) – With the 24th selection in the 2009 NFL draft, the Iowa Barnstormers chose Texas wide receiver
Matthew McGregor. “Matthew is a big-play receiver with great speed and solid hands,” said GM
Grid Iron. “He’s definitely All-League material.”
The 6’0”, 195 pound McGregor led Texas with 1,523 receiving yards last season and scored 15 touchdowns. He was named Second Team All-American and All-Big 12 Conference. “I’m very excited about playing for Iowa,” said McGregor, who was the sixth wide receiver selected in the draft. “I’m so confident in my abilities that if they give me a chance, I can win a starting spot this season.”
McGregor is expected to sign a four-year $15.7 million deal that includes a $5.5 million signing bonus.
