Preseason Game 5

New York at Philadelphia

New York 0 14 3 0 - 17
Philadelphia 13 7 7 6 - 33

The Jets concluded their preseason in Philadelphia with a thump. The Eagles dominated the Jets in all areas of play with a 33-17 victory. This could have been worst, had the Eagles not pulled Donovan McNabb midway through the second quarter with the score 20-0. McNabb played sensational completing 13 of 17 passes for 137 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Jets did get to within 6 before the first half came to an end. The Jets drove 80 yards for a touchdown shortly before the end of the half. Pennington made some nice throws, and Lamont Jordan grinded out tough yards, capped by a 4-yard touchdown. Jacoby Shepherd intercepted Eagles' quarterback, AJ Feeley and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown when it appeared that the Eagles were about to make the score 27-7.

The Jets came out in the second half and looked flat once again, as the Eagles controlled the line of scrimmage and stifled the Jets, sending them home with a 2-3 preseason for Ed McGregor's first preseason as a head coach in the NFL.

Coach McGregor said, "We did some good things this summer, however, as you can all see, we need to improve in several areas to win games in this league."

The Jets received some bad news following the game. Rookie OLB Boss Bailey tore tendons in his thumb and is expected to be out the first half of the season. Other than some players who are a little nicked up, the team is ready to open the NFL season up in Washington.
