Jets do not Pull the Trigger
April 25, 2003
With the NFL Draft approaching tomorrow, the Jets were contacted by Chicago to see if they were interested in sending their #13 and #22 pick of the first round along with a mid-round pick to move up to the #4 spot to have a shot at perhaps Wide Receiver Charles Rogers, Andre Johnson, Defensive Tackle Dwayne Robertson or Cornerback Terence Newman.
Jets feel they have too many holes at this time and can get the quality players later in the first round. It is believed the Jets would like to land a DT at #13. It is believed that Robertson will be gone by then, however, they feel they will still get a shot at one of the remaining Defensive Tackles, which is one of the deepest positions of the draft. It is believed that the Jets are hopeful, Kevin Williams of Oklahoma State or Jonathan Sullivan of Georgia will be available after Robertson, who is expected to go in the Top-5.
