Jets Expected to Name Head Coach
Later today, it is expected that the New York Jets will announce the hiring of its fourth coach in four seasons (Belichek, Groh, Edwards).
General Manager, Michael Marra has been working around the clock evaluating possible replacements as well as team personnel to prepare for the up and coming free agency period. The Jets have many issues to address and to add a change in the front office, and coaching staff only complicates matters.
The Jets are forced to deal with prominent Unrestricted Free Agents, OG Randy Thomas, K John Hall, and FB Richie Anderson. As well as Restricted Free Agents WR Laverneus Coles, and KR Chad Morton. GM Marra has already offered tender offers to Coles and Morton. In the event a team offers Coles a deal and the Jets do not match they would receive a 1st and 3rd round draft choice as compensation. They have tendered an offer to Morton that would bring them a 5th rounder.
