Week 10 Training Results

The original plan for our training program called for a concentration on playmaking training, with a little bit of winger training along the way as well (at about a four-to-one ratio). As of last week we had eight weeks of playmaking training, so we were scheduled to concentrate on our wingers for the next two weeks. However, the injury to Kolberg on Sunday caused us to change that. The injury permitted us to get Reg Nichols a full week of playmaking training, so we’ve pushed the winger training back by a week.

None of our players “took the next step,” as it were, but we weren’t really expecting any of them to either. Reg Nichols has had the equivalent of five weeks of midfielder training, and so is still a short way off from excellent playmaking (he’s solid at the moment).

The league-match playing time that we’ve been giving to Chilean midfielder Javier Tejeda appears to be paying off, and he has been making fewer youthful mistakes as of late (he has improved to wretched (2) experience).

Form Changes

Eight players improved their playing form this week:
-Defender Sven Svensson -> excellent (8)
-Midfielder Gino Behling -> solid (7)
-Winger Ivan Richardy -> solid (7)
-Midfielder Javier Tejeda -> solid (7)
-Midfielder Jaimy van de Kerkhof -> solid (7)
-Wingback Mattias Leier -> passable (6)
-Midfielder Agustin Alustiza -> inadequate (5)
-Goalkeeper Darryl Read -> inadequate (5)

Eleven players saw their form remain the same this week.

Three players dropped in form this week:
-Winger Reg Nichols -> passable (6)
-Wingback Arlen “Headcase” Lucas -> inadequate (5)
-Forward German Galvez -> poor (3)

This week’s form results are definitely a good news/bad news sort of situation. The good news is that the club’s overall form curve is on the upswing. The bad news is two-fold, however. First, Arlen “Headcase” Lucas is in a bit of a slump, which is a rare occurrence for him. This is the first time in over a year (real time) that he has dipped below passable (6) form. Hopefully this is just a short-term slump.

The worse news is that our forwards continue to struggle, with only Guido Metman playing well. We’re having a lot of trouble generating offense as a result of this (this week’s FOFC Cup match is a perfect example).

In The Zone

Veteran Swedish defender Sven Svensson continues to prove that he is well worth the money we spent to get him. He has filled in admirably on the back-line, and this week has risen to excellent (8) form. With the slump that Headcase is experiencing, it is possible that Sven will see the pitch in this Sunday’s match.

Form Dogs

Forrest “Gump” Tobias remains mired in poor (3) form, and this week is joined by another striker, German Galvez. Obviously this does not bode well for our goal-scoring ability (or rather, our lack thereof).
