Again on the sideline the offensive coordinator and I talk strategy. MSU has completely stopped Brewster so far on the ground. We haven't really tried to get him the ball much, though. We resolve to force the ball to him on this next drive, which comes up rather quickly as well.
MSU goes 3 and out for the 2nd time in a row, but this time gets off a good punt. Billmaier makes the fair catch at the UT35 with 13 seconds left in the first quarter.
Despite our resolution, we run playaction on the first play from the scrimmage. I lob the ball over to FB Willie Jordan, but it falls short of its mark. 2nd down. Option right, and I bring the ball down the sideline. MSU is all over Brewster, but I pitch it to him anyway. He heads up the field, but is still dropped for a loss of a yard as the first quarter expires.
