Round 2, Back 9 - Bubble Sitters

Kyle Smith - (-3)
Smith's 2 over on the front dropped him back onto the bubble for making the cut, he needs to rebound on the back to get in the money this weekend. A couple of pars is followed by a birdie on 12. 3 more pars and Smith goes into the last 3 holes at a pretty safe 4 under. At 16, arguably the easiest hole on the course, Smith hit a pretty good drive. He elected to go for the green in two, despite the fact he was sitting on a slightly down hill lie. His 4 wood from the fairway doesn't catch the ball cleanly and his second shot ends up in the creek which runs in front of the green. He drops, his a good wedge in for his 4th shot, but he missed the 13 foot par putt and settled for a bogey. A solid par at 17 is followed by a 3 putt bogey at 18, and a finishing score of 3 over 75. He sits at 2 under and now he has to wait and see if that will be good enough to make the cut. on a side note - this really helps Bywater and Tucker. Round 2 Score 38:37 - (-2)

Shane Kormelink - (-3)
Another player that really charged on the front, looking to continue on the back. However Shane could only manage 1 birdie on the last 9 holes, a 4 on the par 5 16th. He also had bookend bogeys at 10 and 18, giving him a 37 on the back as well. Bywater and Tucker are starting to feel much better about their chances right about now. Round 2 Score 33:37 - (-2)

Kyle Kappe III - (-3)
A hard charger on the front starts off the back Par Par, then he gets a solid birdie at 12, followed by a great putt birdie at 13. A missed 11 footer at 14 prevents Kappe from getting 3 straight birds. 16 is birdied as is 18 and Kappe's front side 32 is matched on the back. His 64 allows him to not only comfortably make the cut, but it also gets his name on the leaderboard. Round 2 Score 32:32 - (-7)

Michael Weideman - (-2)
Bogey at number 10 sets his chances back, but he rebounds with a birdie on 14 and another at 16 and the back side is scored 1 under. With Weideman at 3 under his fortunes are now directly tied to Bywater and Tucker, who breathe a sigh of relief - 1 stroke lower and they would have been pushed further back. Round 2 Score 36:35 - (-3)

Bradley Nowell - (-2)
At 2 under Nowell has every chance to make the cut. The way things have gone, it's starting to look like 3 under will make it. However Nowell never gets it going on the back. A drive in the deep rough at 11 leads to bogey and a short drive at 18 does the same. Round 2 Score 35:38 - (EVEN)

Mike Tokunaga - (-2)
Mike starts off the back 9 with a birdie at 10. He gets another at 12, then back to back birds at 15 and 16. No bogeys or even a threat of one on the back and Tokunaga follows Kappe's lead and easily makes the cut - and gets his name on the leaderboard. Round 2 Score 35:32 - (-6)

Its Craptacular - (-1)
The front side collapse has put Craptacular in danager of missing the cut. Last week he played steady but didn't score - this week if he would have played steady on the front, he would all but be assured of playing on the weekend. He tries to get a couple of strokes back, but isn't successful. On 16 his drive is way right, forcing him to layup to keep from hitting the ball in the creek in front of the green. He ends up settling for bogey. Then 18 is also bogeyed and Craptacular shots a 77 on day two. Round 2 Score 39:38 - (+1)

David Gonzalez - (EVEN)
To make the cut David probably needs to shoot at least 2 under on the back. He gets a birdie at 11 when he sinks a 23 foot putt. He gets another at 15 and things are looking good. On 18 however, Gonzalez tries to make a 25 foot birdie putt - feeling 3 under would certainly make the cut. The ball ran by the hole and stopped 7 feet later. He misses the comeback putt, settles for bogey, and most likily misses the cut. Round 2 Score - 37:35 - (-1)

Marshall "Thundering" Herd - (EVEN)
Herd in the same possition as Gonzalez needs to get at least 2 under on the back to have a hope of making the cut. Pars the first 5 holes, before a prefectly possitioned drive on 15 gives him a run a birdie - which he finishes. Herd then gets up and down on 17 to save par. On 18 - needing a birdie to have a shot at the cut line, Herd muscles up on a drive. He pulls the ball left of line and ends up in the rough. He gets the second shot to the green, but the ball caught a flier and didn't sit, forcing a 3 shot chip and a 7 foot put for par. Round 2 Score 37:35 - (-1)

Stan Gunner - (EVEN)
Gunner shot a 32 on the back Thrusday, if he matches that today - he'll certainly be playing for a paycheck. Bogey's number 12, then birdies 15. A bad 4 iron on 17 leads to a second bogey and Gunner finishes the tourney over par. Round 2 Score 36:37 - (+!)

Kevin Wayne - (+1)
Wayne needs to go real low on the back 9 to get to the weekend. He stars off with 2 pars The he takes adavantage of the easy 12th getting a birdie. He gets another at 13 with a laser sighted 2nd shot iron. 14 is another great iron for birdie and then 15 starts with a perfectly placed drive, a good iron and a solid 10 foot putt that drops in the heart. 4 straight birdies is followed by a solid par at 16, an 8 foot putt is made on 17 for par and 18 was played to par with no effort. Wayne ties a group of other golfers at 3 under and appears to have made the cut. Round 2 Score 37:32 - (-3)

Kevin Boroniec - (+2)
Boroniec needs to go low like Wayne but he pars the first 6 holes and is basically out of chances to make a charge at the cut line. However, he does build some comfidence for next week by finishing birdie, birdie, birdie. Round 2 Score 38: 33 - (-1)

Alan Kelmay - (+2)
Kelmay goes birdie birdie to start the back and is sitting on even par. Unfortunately he can't get in a good birdie possition until hole 16, where he lays up with the second shot, knocks down a 7 iron for the 3rd and drops the 15 foot putt. Round 2 Score 37:33 - (-1)
