Asaad becomes Villanova's second Freshman of the Year; Zayden Calhoun was the first, earning the honor in 2038.
I'm delighted, but not surprised, to see Dan and Kai earning national honors. Nor am I shocked to see Wayne Bradhold on the All-Freshman Team. I'm thinking he might have been runner up to Assad for the FOY prize.

We sweep the Big Three awards for the Big East this year. I'm especially pleased that the conference recognized a guard who is not a big scorer--Kai averages just over 10 per game--as its best player on the strength of his other contributions. Asaad is, unsurprisingly, honored as the Big East's top freshman after being named the nation's best. And Graham will need to make room for another COY, after his Wildcats won the regular season and tournament championships in fine fashion.
I like the conference's choices for the first team. They're exactly the same five players I would pick. I'm happy for John, who earns some well-deserved recognition, and for Asaad and Tyson, worthy members of the Freshman Team.
